Elijah Adebayo is also really well placed on that graph. I've never massively rated him but you have to wonder if Luton have a job holding onto him this window considering their current form.

I’m surprised he’s still there tbh

Scored 10 goals in 27 PL appearances last season

    Isidor is a superb finisher.

Unsure where Mayenda would be but I would expect him to rate poorly on this.

    Cheers mate.

Yeah if he could finish he'd be a monster.

Isidor for 4 or 5 mill is a steal

I'm a big Mayenda fan, think he has all the tools to be a top end forward. But his finishing needs serious work

Yep, hopefully it improves before long. Nice that he’s getting the chances

At least he's shown that he can finish very well, we've seen a few from him already this season. He's capable of it, now it's just a case of gaining experience and cutting out the daft decisions.

I think he'll go on to be a top player, will probably never be the ice cold clinical finisher type but he has plenty of other strengths and he'll score plenty.

Yeah all about finding consistency. The fact he's getting into good areas is half the battle. Plus, even in games like Sunday where he missed a good chance, he still heavily influenced the game in a positive way.

This is very early and quite basic so apologies for how flawed it is but thought i'd look into the finishing ability of Championship strikers.

In my opinion, the best way to look at finishing ability is to first look at the quality of chances they get (I have used non penalty xG per shot here). Then one way to look at the actual finishing ability is to take the number of goals scored minus their total xG. Non penalty is the best way.

    IMG_4774.png

Some interesting results. Dane Scarlett seems to be over performing massively, scored 4 goals from a total xG of 0.83. Norman Bassette on the other hand is underperforming massively, 2 goals from an xG of 4.8. If Boro sell Latte Lath for big money and use the money on defenders and give Conway his striker minutes I think they'd be a better team.

Mayenda is getting in good areas but his finishing is poor, if he improves his finishing to just league average he will be a £10m+ player.

Isidor is a good finisher. Hopefully with the addition of Le Fee we can get him some better chances, think he could get towards Conway on this graph with better service.

This is very basic and I wouldn't use it as a barometer on ability but it's a good guideline. Going to keep working at it and post more findings.

From the echo, comparing Cannon, Bereton Diaz & Mayenda (Data from Wyscout allegedly)

The first thing that jumps off the page is that Cannon is a notably more prolific central striking option than his Chilean counterpart. So far this season, the 22-year-old has averaged 0.42 goals per 90 minutes, compared to Brereton Diaz’s return of 0.14 a couple of seasons ago. It is perhaps worth noting too, that Cannon is marginally more efficient in his finishing, outperforming his xG by 0.02 per match, compared to Brereton Diaz, who under-performs by 0.01. Elsewhere, Cannon outstrips the Southampton forward’s shooting accuracy by 16.9%, as well as averaging 0.45 more shots on goal per 90 minutes.

The Stoke loanee doesn’t necessarily have things all his own way, however. While his finishing may put Brereton Diaz to shame somewhat, there are plenty of other aspects of the 25-year-old’s game in which he undoubtedly shines brighter. Dribbles per game? The former Blackburn star wins out. Progressive runs? He dwarfs Cannon’s average by a ratio of almost three to one. Touches in the opposition box? Offensive duels contested and won? Shot assists for those around him? Brereton Diaz is comfortably superior in every category.

Mayenda may have been maligned by many on Wearside at various points this season, but the stats would suggest that he is currently performing at a level which matches - and in some cases, eclipses - both Cannon and Brereton Diaz. His goals per 90 minutes average while playing as a centre-forward, for instance, has been just 0.01 worse than Cannon’s this term, while having more shots on goal per game and recording an accuracy rate that is 5.5% higher.

On the other side of the fence, he is registering 0.9 more dribbles per outing than Brereton Diaz did a couple of years back, and has a completion rate that is some 9.6% better. As for the other stuff - the offensive duels contested and won, the touches in the opposition box? Mayenda edges those too. In fact, the only areas in which Brereton Diaz looks truly superior are shot assists and progressive runs. Hardly disastrous.

I believe he's the dot to the left of Carlton Morris, not sure why his name hasn't appeared!

I think he’d fall just under kieffer Moore

-0.02 along the bottom and 0.11 up the side. I think

Just whatever interests you. My current 'obsession' is finishing, been looking at the numbers and then watching clips to see if the numbers match with the eye test.

I’m planning on creating one later for quality of chances created by forwards / attacking midfielders.

was interested to see where Mundle and Roberts line up
