Near enough Toxicodendron = Poison Ivy = the only hit song of Southend based group The Paramounts. Disbanded in 1966, frontman Gary Brooker decided to concentrate on writing songs for other bands. Unable to get others interested in his work, he reformed the group in 1967, naming it Procul Harum after a friend's pedigree Burmese Blue cat, specifically to record his song Whiter Shade of Pale. Imagine having turned down the chance to record that - one of the few songs to sell over 10 million copies. Over to you.
I can remember the day it was released - was working in Somerset House at the time and used to spend my lunch breaks in a little record shop nearby in The Strand. The owners had it playing on loop, and people were standing inside and out, simply transfixed.
WASPI women The Labour front bench were campaigning with them when they were fighting the Tories for compensation, and now can you believe it, I can, they are refusing to honour their promises If Starmers rating falls much lower he will be PM of Australia soon If anyone has a question please be my guest
Cheek - admittedly we've had some doozies for PM, but we've also had the Greatest Ever - Bob Hawke. His record of achievement in matters of importance is second to none - sculling a yard of ale in 11 seconds earned him an approval rating of 75%.
I ll give it to you.....it is the same celebration but in Belgium On 6 December, Sinterklaas or "de Sint" in Flemish and Saint-Nicolas in French childdren open presents delivered by Sinterklaas the night berfore. Sinterklaas wears a hat thus:
Cheers Yorkie - sticking with Sinterklaas (the Flemich version). I got the date wrong - he arrives on the night of the fifth and stays around till the sixth. What forms of transport does he use to perform his duties, where does he arrive in Belgium, where does he come from - and lastly why has the whole thing become politically questionable (PC and all that) ?
