Now, I have stepped on Ernie’s toes once before and hope I’m not doing so again :emoticon-0107-sweat

I was very aware that Ernie did the MOTM threads. What I didn’t realise was that if I’d stuck with the thread long enough I would have seen he did a summary of the points awarded at the end.

As a spreadsheet lover I thought I would input the votes so far from Ernie’s totals (excluding Coventry) into a spreadsheet. The results so far are below (Ernie if you have a spreadsheet on the go I will go hide back under my rock, I do t read this forum cover to cover so may have missed this if you do).

Anyway - based on Ernie’s 5, 3,1 scoring for MOTM for the season so far , the totals are…

Pandur 921
Coyle 906
Palmer 821
Hughes 535
Belloumi 488
Millar 418
Pedro 188
Drameh 172
Omur 157
Zambrano 147
Mehlem 124
Simons 119
Slater 118
Jones 97
Kamara 97
Puerta 80
Giles 72
Bedia 68
Jarvis 65
Burstow 42
Longman 41
McLoughlin 36
Alzate 31
Seri 17
Burns 4
Jacob 3
Estupinan 3

Things to note;

The best individual performances this season;

3 - Palmer v Blackburn (203 pts)
2 - Belloumi v Cardiff (251 pts)
1 - Pandur v QPR (254 pts)

Giles got 56 of his 72 points in the cup game v Sheff Wed

Coyle has the most games with at least 1 vote (14 games) followed by Pandur (13 games)

That’s all for now :emoticon-0148-yes:

16 points in 21 games

Only pandur can come away with any credit
Fact

Being a player of the season in this **** season doesnt count for **** all

I kept a record of the points totals for each player last season, but never got round to doing something sensible like this with the data; this season I've just taken the top 3 nominations each game and kept a record of them. If you've got a spreadsheet set up and are happy to do so, please continue adding each game's points totals to it.

I did mull at one point on a handicap system as the number of points available each game varies significantly. Home games and televised games generally result in more people taking part and poor away performances, not on the telly can sometimes have less than a quarter of the votes. Play a blinder in a 4-O away defeat on an untelevised wet Wednesday in Stoke may score less points than a run of the mill third place finish in a televised home games where we win and everyone's happy.

Anyway, whichever way you read it, it's just a bit of fun and there's precious little of that supporting City at the moment.

I did notice some a lot shorter than others and I guess you could look at dividing the scores by number of votes to balance this out…maybe another day for that!

Id also thought about points per minutes played as well (as a side calculation) to look at overall impact. Belloumi and Miller will now just drift but this calculation will show their impact while they were available.

There’s a few that will climb post Leeds but it’s Puerta, Alzate & Burstow that have been on the move over the last 5 games.

out of interest.....how would it look if rather than counting all votes people got per match it was just a case of 3/2/1 points for the top 3 per match?

Reason I ask is that I suspect we'd see some differences, namely on those rare occasions we've won or had a good game, people are more inclined to vote, so someone mom in a win could rack up a load more points Vs someone mom in a stinker

That might be for another quiet work day :emoticon-0140-rofl:

We had discussed the possibility of dividing points by number of votes as getting MOTM in a televised win would far outweigh MOTM points in a midweek away loss.

I might need to lose my job to do all these though.

One of my New Years resolutions was to stop wasting time doing pointless things…this doesn’t fall into that category does it :emoticon-0145-shake

I also think that while Pandur is having a fine season there is a tendency in a poor performance just to give the keeper a vote or two, just because they made a couple of saves or didn’t make an error.

Pandur has been the stand out player so far. Like most keepers the mistakes get magnified hugely but the top saves are soon forgotten.
