How are Labour doing after their first 12 months

  • Total voters
    24
Knew a fella that paid his tax in Malta, at a 14% rate, he only had to be there 2 weeks a year to qualify, nice little holiday each year.
Starbuck's was Holland, not sure if it still is but my opinion is, if you make profit in a country, then you pay the tax on it in that country, surely they could make that law work.

Already happening for the biggest corporations Pillar II of BEPS / OECD ...

Although this paints a different story (37 seconds)...

I still stick with my first thoughts, because I find that funnier.

Question guise...

Say I gave you 50million quid right now.

But you could only do two things with it.

Option one
Give it to freezing pensioners who live in the UK.

Option two
Terrorsits in Syria.

What one you going for?

Terrorists in Syria

Pensioners will be dead soon and the the Govt will take it all back in inheritance tax

:bandit:

Also pensioners would just spend it on cat treats and **** off the tele that they don’t need, like a mop with a spinning head that doubles up as a duster.

At least the terrorists would do something useful with the money.

Bookmarked for the next bus bombing or bridge attack.

And roller blades don't cost 50million btw

**** the Waspi women as it is bullshit they weren't told about the changes to their qualifying age for RP . If they genuinely didn't know it is because they ignored letters , ignored numerous reports in the media , ignored the campaigns against etc

Keir Starmer acknowledged there was a delay, even in the commons today he repeated it. That delay, Keir's words was 28 months. Hence a package of £2-3k was the estimated payout for those affected. I get the government cannot afford it, that I don't dispute, but to acknowledge the delay as someone who is not only a PM but previously a Barrister, to also stand alongside those women in 2022, as also did Rachel Reeves is not a good look. Personally I would have handled it differently, stating that the state can't afford it yet but we will look at it before the end of term - now I expect that can't be said, but either way this will be sent for parliamentary review now. Oh well, I do hope he can turn things around over the next four years, because as it stands he aint getting the two terms he longed for.

Yeah I did on that last bit, and it crossed my mind when I heard the news - I don't really change from that stance, but considering we are paying out billions...can't remember what it was now....£11.5 - £15B over two matters, PO and Drug company, then I feel they had a fair shout - that don't change the fact though that we need to change this state compensation culture and maybe burden insurance companies with it.

Moving on to men....I only found out through my partner that the pension age was changing, was working too hard at the time, and we didn't have 24 hour news coverage back then to the amount we have it today- so I do believe the government were a bit coy about it at the time, to prevent protests. When I left school I was told my retirement age (along with my tax code) would be 65, I never ever had any reason to think that would change (naively), as I was contributing. A harsh lesson was learned and another 2 years added, but not as much as some in the future will have to incur.

While on the matter, when I met my partner there is a seven year age gap between us, but that worked well, because it meant that there would only be two years into my pension before she could retire with me via the state, as it stands now that would be 8 years (inc another increase). Pretty shocking and a kick in the teeth for the future that was planned in our younger years....to suddenly then to rock up and change it all, whether that be Labour or Tories is a hard one to digest. So yes I have every sympathy for women when you look at the whole picture and I don't think the fuller consequences were ever considered properly.
