We are at the bottom and 4 team ahead of us has 2 games in hand and a point. We need to pass 4 teams, not 1, not 2, not 3. And you are telling me our goal difference is good. Who cares? When winter transfer season start, we are prime relegation candidate for every football player looking for a new team.
Yea when they lose They seem to lose badly Which benefits our gd But they can pick up points We never even seem to get hammered but we just cant get points We lose games so easily
You realise games in hand aren't automatically wins, right? Goal difference means we need less points to go ahead of teams, you understand that right? When we were drawing to Cov we were out of the drop zone. It shows how tight it is. I don't know why I need to explain this.
Do you know that one of the postponed games is Oxford-Plymouth? 2 of the 4 teams we need to pass? Cardiff playing at home against Watford, while Portsmouth has two games, one at home against mid table Millwall. You realise that when you are bottom team of table, statistically means that you have less chance to win a point in away game than any other team in classification, that's why you are at bottom, and your opponents are actually playing at home, more favorable matchups. Anyway whole point of discussion, we are not that charming anymore for players, we can't convince many players to 1.5 years contract because most them will be risking playing in a lower league. Either we have to pay more than they worth, which is more risky since there won't be additional income in lower league, and our owner let's be honest "not that rich" neither doing well in his business.
Fantastic, that guarantees at least one of them drops points, which is basically my entire point. Oh the statistics say we're more likely to lose? Well then may as well stop the season now if that's what the statistics say.
I have zero idea. It's going to take a miracle to persuade anyone of any quality to come here. We might raid Reading if we have any thought. Not even Washington from Chelsea would consider us again...
No that's not good, because you don't need to pass one of them, you need to pass all of them. So they are playing each other means at least one of them will increase point difference.
Teams above us dropping points is good. If it's one of their games in hand which you're claiming is part of why we're in such a tough position then it's even better.
Dude it is good if you are playing for playoffs, means most of the teams are already winning. We are fighting for relegation, which means most of the teams we are competing against are already losing, no points around for any teams in relegation fight. They are playing each other means at least one of them will get points, while they usually can't. Relegation dynamics is different than upper table dynamics. It is a different world, every point is important. When you are 7th and looking for playoff spot, you can be happy that at least one will fall. But when you are bottom and you need to pass both but not one of them, that's not good. 22 still relegates.
Of course it is, I'm not disagreeing? Just to point out, Oxford aren't 21st, Cardiff are. if Oxford win that game in hand against Plymouth that's good for us.
If we can free up some loan slots, someone like Evan Ferguson at Brighton would be a good target. He’s not had much game time this season but knows how to score.
Sadly I think he's going to a PL club, far, far too good to bother with the Championship. It'd be more likely Al-Hamadi and the like potentially.
Ali Al Hamadi Broadhead Conor Townsend 3 players we could raid from Ipswich who’d transform our season
Al hamadi could def do with more championship play time He doesnt have much at that level or higher Townsends from ull, maybe regular game time and local area Maybe that could get them here lol
Playing every game for us and steering us clear would do wonders for their stock. None are playing ATM but do take your point we won’t be top of players lists
I genuinely think we should just raid Reading and see what they can do under him. Get him to ruffle heads and see if he can somehow convince them to come here. I see nothing else we can do.
