Is a decent cup run the last thing Saints need. Who would you like - go out to a big premier league club in round 3 or draw lower league opposition and maybe play fringe players or go all out for a good cup run. my prediction - Coventry home but would like Arsenal away The draw is on ITV this afternoon after the live Totton game. Totton anyone?
Well I don't want a cup run at all, but I would love to get Totton should they win today. Come on Totton!
Just want an interesting tie eg not another team in our league. Aresnal/Liverpool/Chelski away, lower league side at home.
I think it would be preferable to draw lower league opposition at home to give the fringe players/youth proper game time, especially if injuries persist we will need to integrate some into the first team over the coming months. I cannot see why we would want to draw a big team and feel the need to play our first teamers who we need to save for the league. It may be a nice day out, but I'd rather the cup be useful and not potentially disruptive....in an ideal world
pick the kids and see what happens - we're not going to win the thing and cup games are another chance for the important players to be injured. Plus playing the kids would give them valuable experience.
We want a draw we can win. At this stage, we need to be in a winning run, whereas towards the sharp end of the season we won't want to still be in the Cup (unless we're flying, of course).
Saints V Manu in the FA Cup final 2012 Saints win 1-0 Scored by Rickie Lambert in our Promotion Season . We then go on to STAY in the top division for at least another 27 years . Who says I am a pessemist .......................
I'd like a bit of a cup run so I'm hoping for a crushable minnow for the first game, at least. Having said that, we'll probably get Arsenal or Manchester City instead. Totton pulled one back but it's now 1-5.
Adkins would like Liverpool..perhaps he could have it as a Christmas present. Would prefer a home draw against a small team myself.
Just in case our home record is still intact come a month's time, it would be nice to not be taking on Man City at St Marys. Indeed any side from the middle of the Championship upwards at St Marys would be a bad draw.
A lowly team at home in the 3rd round playing some of the young guns. Then arsenal/ tottenham away in the 4th round.
