Norwich finished 2nd last season with a squad that IMO isn't as good as ours.
We can always buy another striker or winger in Jan or use some of our academy players.
No worries.

AdamBanana20. I love your opinion. It was, and still is the opinion of so many clubs who we have come up agaisnt in the last three seasons. I could go through and compare our respective teams, which IMO, would show ours to be vastly superior. But your style of opinion is very valuable to our club, so I will let you keep it.

I have to say though that you guys need to relax. You're having an exceptional season in what I believe is the most exciting league in the world. Enjoy it. You do have big club syndrome sometimes and I know its in the nature of a southampton supporter to be incredibly fickle, (thats just my opinion) but you look assured to atleast finish in the top 6 this season, if you let Adkins carry on with the great work he is doing and dont press the self implode button.

Well that was disrespectful and condescending. As for the first statement, your team last season was no better than ours is now, and if we were to get promoted and sign a couple of Premier League-quality players then we would be just as good as you again. As for the "big club syndrome" thing, we actually are one of the biggest clubs in the league and I don't think anyone is deluded as to where we stand. We're probably not as well-supported as Leeds or West Ham, and we don't have quite as impressive a history, but we do have more support and generally a bigger stature in the game than the majority of teams in this league, and are used to being in the Premier League.

Oh and just so you know, we would all have been delighted with a top-half finish at the start of the season. We're not kidding ourselves that we haven't done a lot better than we thought we would. I admit when we first got relegated from the Premier League that I felt like we had some divine right to be back up there and that we were better than all the other teams in this league. The years that followed were pretty humbling, and I think I speak for the vast majority of Saints fans now when I say we're just happy to be here and to be playing well.

1) James Henry - Great on the right hand side with lots of potential
2) Zaha - looked amazing against Utd
3) Clyne - Cover for frazer and future succeeder
4) Maynard - Good enough now
5) one centre back

1) Seems feasable enough. I'll admit to not knowing a lot about him other than that he wasn't wanted at Reading. I wouldn't hold that against him though seeing how well Antonio did for us.
2) He is amazing and is being courted by much bigger fish than us. More chance of hell freezing over than us pulling this off.
3) Frazer is awesome and Butterfield does a job when called upon. We don't want to disturb the squad mid-season if we don't have to. This one isn't urgent and we could probably do it for less in the summer.
4) Brizzle will keep him and let him go in the summer. He's a big part of their plan to stay up and achieve a respectable finish.

Why do so many saints fans constantly feel the need educate other clubs on how big a club Southampton is, with the dribble of detailed history of what we have archived, its really embarrassing and you look like an idiot!

You can finish in the top 2, but would need to invest well in January IMO. Even if not I would still say you're certain for top 6. You have a strong core of good quality but around that I would say even a couple of players in your staring 11 aren't quite auto standard. I would definitely put Cork in our CM next to Clayton and would take Lallana for the left wing in a flash. Still think Lambert is pretty much on a par with Becchio and McCormack but he would make a decent 3rd choice ;). I'd predict that at thee end of the season we'll see a 4 way battle for auto between us, West Ham and Cardiff. <ok>

Ah posted that on the wrong thread does anyone kknow how to delete a post im sure im being an idiot newbie but i cant seem to see how!

expectations are high, based on our performances to date and our current position. There is nothing wrong in expecting to win every game, but we must learn to take the rough with the smooth, and Sir Nigel says, dont get too high when we win, and dont get too low when we drop points. Come the end of the season WE WILL BE IN THE MIX for promotion.

If you click on "edit post" you then get the option to delete (or I least I think you do - I know I get it, but I'm sure it's something that everyone gets, rather than just mods).

Just one thing i want to say - It's in the nature of fans of every club to be fickle not just Southampton.

Yes, it goes without saying that we aspire to be a big club, but if we don't tell anyone, they will begin to doubt that we are for real.
