If you can find 3 people from the Newcastle board, who are regular visitors, who claim to hate me, then you may have a point, but you wont find those 5 people.

I'm not saying anyone on the Newcastle board will have me as their favourite user, but I don't think anyone really dislikes me.

I'm not sure I understand... I have arrived at the conclusion that most Newcastle supporters think that a couple of seasons playing champions league football overides all other achievements over the last 130 years, well I'm afraid, back in reality, that just isn't the case.

As for prefering to see a Newcastle player injured over and above a cup win for SAFC, well... thats just the type of statement I would expect an out of touch Newcastle fan to say, remarkable.

It is a shame for the lad, but I must admit that out of all of your players he is the one I would shed the least tears for. However having said that, I hope he manages to make a full recovery.

Same old patter, winning things and derby wins that happened over 50 years ago aren't of importance in recent times because neither team has been successful winning trophies for a very long time and both teams cancel each other out on that front, but the fact is the vast majority of Sunderland supporters walk around with a massive chip on their shoulder simply because we have been the better and more successful team for the best part of 25 years now and that's what most people remember at this moment in time.

Does this make the last 130 years irrelevant? No it does not. BUT recent times are what sticks in the memory and that's why most of your lot are just as happy, if not happier to see us lose than you get a win.

I come on this board just like I do every other board on the forum but this board like ours is the busiest so I tend to comment more on here, I take an interest in my local rivals and make the odd post.

I find it awful to see opposing fans of any team wishing harm or celebrating an injury on one of our players, and I would never say the same about any teams players.

Ahhh I see... You clearly don't believe the historical performance/heritage of a club is important or relevant? Now why do I find myself suprised?

NUFC may have finished above SAFC a few times over the last 15 years, but the last 3 years have began to reveal a new direction. Ofcourse there will be the occasional season where NUFC manage to get on top and as you prefer not to recall your clubs historical performance I suppose finishing above Sunderland is the best you can hope for? You have to go back to 2007/2008 for the last time NUFC finished above SAFC. Perhaps this is an indication of things to come too?

I'm not celebrating at all, however I do have far less support for players that 'consistently' attempt to cheat. Steven Taylor amazingly finds himself handling the ball or diving quite often. Taylor went down poleaxed today looking for a foul that never was. Now I'm not saying that other players don't do this but that in itself isn't a vindication for Taylors understanding of fair play and justice.

*The argument in question is the inferiority complex displayed by the vast majority of Sunderland fans not who won a derby 100 years ago or who might have the odd extra league title, I'm talking recent times, you know? The stuff the vast majority of people still remember. I'm not saying that stuff isn't revelant, far from it, but in this instance to this particular argument it is, In recent times we have been the better team, even last season we dished out an embarrasing loss for you at our place even though we didnt manage to better the league position, and those are the kinds of things that stick in the head. And these are the reasons for the obsession/inferiority complex, its possible that our fans would be the same (some even are) if the shoe was on the other foot.

That's like saying Blackburn have been more successful than us in the last 20 years because they won the title once.

Bollocks. I'd rather maintain a high finish in the table for long period of time, that win the title once and do **** all for the next 15 years but get relegated.

Just because we haven't finished 1st in anything recently, doesn't mean we haven't achieved anything. A top 4-6 finish is a good achievement in my opinion.

Not only is it a reward in itself, but you get into Europe and reap the financial benefits as well.

So yeah you won a cup more recently than us, but that doesn't mean you've been more successful than us recently at all.

I can see the problem here... You don't wish to recall or investigate your clubs 'superiority' over SAFC prior to 1990 and you don't wish to recall anything that has occured since 2007, except the start of this season. You also forget that we came over to your stadium and beat you up twice 2-1 during your so called 'reign of dominance'. Your making me laugh, stop it!

I would suggest to you that far from SAFC fans having an inferiority complex you yourself have an unjustified superiority complex and that is why not only fans of SAFC, but many fans of other clubs view NUFC fans as being delusional. Your club hasn't won anything for over 50 years... IF NUFC manage to finish above SAFC this season that will be 1 in 4. Now if you prefer to focus on recent facts, perhaps that is where you should start when you accuse SAFC fans of an inferiority complex when it is your unjustified superiority complex that is the real issue here.

Apart from being on top for the last 3 years, we now have a manager with a proven trophy winning CV/pedigree in order to further develop our re-emerging dominance, a dominance that has a historical record going back 130 years. Come back when you appoint a manager that has won a trophy or actually win something.

Steven Taylor has been very unlucky with injuries over the last 3-4 seasons, and is still only 25 years old mate.

England caps don't determine who's better at all.

Brown was a great player in his prime, and he's still good, just not as good as he was. If he was still as good as he was, Ferguson wouldn't have sold him for only 1m, and he'd be playing next to Vidic instead of that pile of ****e Ferdinand.

Saylor is a fantastic defender, but it seems like he has this unfortunate pattern where he plays amazing for a run of games and then picks up another random injury.

The number of England caps a player recieves during his career is without doubt a justifiable foundation to begin a debate with regards to discussing who is the best of the two. If Taylor was that good, why doesn't he have more England caps than Wes Brown? Wes Brown has had a lot of injuries during his career too. Wes Brown made his first England cap in 1999, when he was 20 years old and has 23 caps scoring 1 goal. Steven Taylor has 0 caps. Your arguement is founded upon quicksand at best.

Wes Brown is the bargain of the season and he is 1 of only 2 reasons to thank Steve Bruce.
