Great player but as a manager he’s had one proper season at PSV in 22-23 and 4 games as interim at Man Utd.

What’s got him the Lesta job? The 2 wins against them for Utd?

To me, it’s a risky appointment.
I made similar points yesterday.
Could understand the hype if they were signing him as a striker, 20 years ago....
But i mean, we will see.....be interesting to see how he fares

The fact he was seemingly only wanted by Leicester and a second division German club says it all.

Well has has won more in his one season in charge at PSV (Dutch Cup) than Spurs have won in a quarter of a century <whistle>

Every managerial appointment is a risky appointment...

This one has the fans buzzing ... and that's great ...

Nope ... says a club currently looking for a manager has made an exciting appointment...

- he's joined the fourth most successful Premier League club over the last 10 years ... only Citeh, Chelsea and Liverpool have won more - both the Premier League and FA Cup in that time frame and 2 additional top 5 finishes ... thems the facts ... not even Fosse flannel <cheers>

9 years ago to the day this happened (see below) ... breaking a record set by Ruud van Nistelrooy... who is now about to become his boss <laugh>

Seriously though, the guy looks like he should be wearing a yellow vis jacket and a hardhat, total mong!
Showed loyalty to Leicester, which is admirable, but I cant help feeling he feared he wouldnt cut the mustard at Arsenal, and so stayed put mainly out of fear of leaving his comfy Leicester bubble.
Still, at 100k a week, I guess he could rest on his laurels.

Don't think he feared anything - his goalscoring record against the 'Big 6' is remarkable and also who he scored against at International level ...

Think it had much more to do with being a 'Big fish' .. being guaranteed games and being on a very competitive salary to boot... plus perhaps knowing he would always be adored by the fans...

... he also went on to win an FA Cup winners medal.. and a Golden boot ...

The fans are buzzing because of the striker he was. Not because he’s a good manager. He may well turn out to be a great appointment but when the aim of your club is to stay up then there were better options out there.

I doubt the manager makes much difference there at the moment to be honest. They've got argubaly the worst CB in the league, Vardy at 37 is probably still their best player and the rest of their team is ****e. The team that went down in 22/23 was way better, so experienced manager or not, it's tough to make a tune out of that. Might be worth seeing if Ruud can play...

Cooper had them in 16th, if Ruud can maintain it that'll be a successful first season back in the Prem, I fancied all three promoted sides to go straight back down, Palace and Wolves doing their best to **** that predicition at the moment but I still reckon it's very likely.
