I suspect underlying that poll is the widespread belief, often shouted down by self-appointed football tacticians, that Acun dropped an immense bollock by sacking Liam Rosenior.

****ing hell, rover. I hope the business owner you made wealthy thanked you for it and is paying for your healthcare. No medals for working yourself to death or a hospital bed unfortunately.

There's enough machinery, h&s, knowledge and tech these days that no one should destroy their body working. Best of luck with your health for the future.

It's funny that there's about a dozen threads on Hull City Fans Forum on Facebook, all along the lines of 'sacking Rosenior wasn't a mistake, just the appointment that followed it was', generally going on to say people needed to stop banging on about his sacking now. The irony of them starting another thread about Rosenior's sacking seems to be completely lost on them.

Machines don't pick the food you put on your table, that's the job of pickers, picking upwards of 180 cases an hour in huge food distribution centres.

Well that's how it is in Britain anyway,if it's different in Norway I doff my cap to their revolutionary innovation...

Then more fool him for thinking it would be that easy - Walter wasn't intentionally bad.

A very good summary by Baz.

Hull City sack Tim Walter as angry MKM Stadium convinces Acun Ilicali to part ways

The German's short-lived tenure at the MKM Stadium has come to an end

Hull City have sacked head coach Tim Walter after Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday as owner Acun Ilicali makes one of his biggest decisions yet with the team 22nd in the Championship, having amassed just 15 points from the first 17 games and on a run of four straight defeats.

The news was confirmed by the club at 5pm on Wednesday evening following a meeting this lunchtime by the City board.

Appointed on July 1, Walter’s brief tenure at the MKM Stadium came to an end after a defeat which left them mired at the wrong end of the table and nine games without a win, with fans spending much of the evening calling for the German's departure.

City are now on the lookout for their second manager in the space of a few months following Liam Rosenior’s departure at the end of last season, after the former Tigers ace guided them to a seventh-placed finish in May.

The German, who was Ilicali’s top target after he dispensed with Rosenior just three days post the season finale at Plymouth Argyle, won only three of his 17 Championship games in charge, with that trio coming in successive games against Stoke City, Cardiff City and QPR in late September and early October. His side was also dumped out of the Carabao Cup at the first round stage by local rivals Sheffield Wednesday, who played largely a second-string outfit at the MKM Stadium, and then beaten again this week. Embarrassingly, the Owls have notched more wins at City's home this season than they have.

Since then, his side were thumped 4-0 at Norwich City, beaten by Sunderland and then drew with Burnley, Derby County and Portsmouth before the loss at the Kassam Stadium left them teetering above the relegation zone, and that situation hasn't improved in recent weeks with defeats to West Brom and Luton Town saw them drop back into it, before Walter's side lost again in front of a home support who have seen just three wins in 21 league and cup outings in 2024.

It was against Portsmouth earlier this month when Walter’s tenure hit the buffers, with home supporters jeering their manager throughout a dismal second half showing which saw them fail to build on an early lead given to them by Joao Pedro, eventually held by the then-bottom side as City made it just one home win in six league attempts this term, a run which was then extended to seven against the Baggies.

Fans booed Walter’s team off at full-time against Pompey before the German criticised the level of support in one of his post-match media interviews, a move which did not go down well with many calling on him to be sacked at that point.

He then refused to go over and acknowledge the away fans at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, blaming his decision to not go over on being wet from the heavy rain, as his fractured relationship became broken beyond repair.

Walter’s unique style, which was labelled ‘heart-attack’ football before he arrived at City following his stint in the German second division with Hamburg, has struggled to generate results, nor the excitement fans were expecting when he was appointed, and now, he’s paid the price for a poor start to the season, and leaves Ilicali looking to appoint his fourth permanent manager in just under three years as owner.

The former Bayern Munich academy coach’s tenure at City started slowly with a lack of recruitment early in the summer seeing Walter highlight his frustrations throughout a pre-season which saw his side fail to win any of their six games, in fact, it took until his 13th game in charge to win a game, that coming at Stoke City.

A flurry of arrivals in August took the eventual tally to 17 with Walter stressing how he and his players needed time to adjust to his style of play, but improvements were slow and public criticism of some members of the dressing room didn’t go down well.

Walter and Ilicali enjoyed a positive, direct relationship with the Tigers owner keen to back the man he put a lot of stock in appointing and backing him after events at Oxford and during the international break, but the way the fans turned on the German, especially at the Kassam Stadium and on Tuesday night, coupled with the alarming drop down the table, had a major impact on the decision to make a change with Andy Dawson taking caretaker charge for the time being, just as he did two years ago following Shota Arveladze’s exit, prior to Rosenior’s arrival.

His departure is the fifth Championship exit so far this season after Ryan Lowe left Preston North End, Steven Schumacher’s exit from Stoke City, Erol Bulut’s departure from Cardiff City and Mark Robins’ surprise sacking by Coventry City.

Having backed Walter so strongly, even as recently as an hour before kick-off against the Owls, Ilicali knows the pressure to get his next appointment right, to help steady the ship, is absolutely paramount.

Julien Huebner and Filip Tapalovic have also left the club with Andy Dawson taking temporary charge ahead of Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Walter's final Championship record at City reads:

    Played: 17

    Won: 3

    Drawn: 6

    Lost: 8

    Goals for: 16

    Goals against: 23

    Points: 15

    Points per game: 0.88

Who told you they were demotiviated? Your guess is as good as mine so I am not sure how you can categorically state they didnt down tools.

Did you see the second goal against Wednesday?

As I have said many times Walter was not the issue. He was given a bum hand. Put Tom Cannon in that team and we are mid table, plenty on here have mentioned the amount of chances we missed. Defensively we are no worse off than this time last year under Rosenior. It is failing to replace Tufan and Delap that is the problem.

There are several decent posters on here who's opinion, often different to mine, has logic behind it, including you. When I used to go on facebook all I ever saw on that forum was shouty types who seemed to be living in a different world to us.

I always felt Grant McCann should have been given more time and I respect the opinion of those who liked Rosenior and his style of play but facebook is not the place to find anything worth reading in my experience.

It’s more on Acun than anything. I think a lot are still in the boat of sacking a manager that’s got you 7th and in a stable position to take a risk ultimately deserves criticism and it does. It’s regressed the team back 2 years of progress.

It's a reasonable article John but I'd disagree with his section on T.W not going over to the crowd on Saturday? This might be a bit controversial but I wouldn't have either.

He'd already been subject to derogatory chants, not that I'm decrying anyone for venting their anger. Not my cup of tea but these lads 'n' lasses pay their hard earned, they're entitled to say their piece.

He knew what was coming,he knew he was going to be abused and he decided to avoid the inevitable...Cowardice or common sense?

An assumption from reading the body language of the players.

If you think Walter wasn't the problem, will there be other championship clubs wanting to employ him in the near future?

don’t blame him for not doing it Saturday. I blame him for not doing it against Oxford, Luton or Pompey.

You ignore the three things I included after machinery - h&s, knowledge and tech. Perhaps manual labourers should be entitled to private healthcare, longer holidays, shorter hours and earlier retirement.

Look, Ric, you don't agree with me on anything and find something to complain about in a lot of my posts, whether I am joking or being serious. So let's just leave it. They'd probably be no issue face to face.

Walter has had a difficult time for sure, recruitment was late and haphazard and he has lost some key players to injury and suspension.

but I don’t think it’s reasonable to suggest that another manager couldn’t get any better out of this squad of players. We have been looking worse in recent weeks, Luton excluded, not better and I do believe a different coaching approach with a new manager could turn that around.

My bungalow has a fully finished basement (living room, dining room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, bar and games (snooker) room.) Where do I find said stairlift salesman as I'm in need of replacing the central air conditioning unit, heating furnace and hot water tank down there? :emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0100-smile

I find there's a fine line between giving 100% to the job you've signed up for and being taken for granted by a faceless organisation that is happy to bleed you dry, rely on your self-respect to always put in a good shift, take you for a ride, then move on to the next worker once you're no more use to them.

I spent twenty years taking customers out on the piss, day and night, to all sorts of fancy restaurants and bars. It knackered my pancreas and liver, but I do I get any sympathy? Absolutely none. I don't think many appreciate the sacrifices some of us have had to make in our working lives...
