i think we can hark back to the weekend end, he was playing off and with isidor, he could have brought on any number of players really and again failed to do so. I thought the alese sub was good as the back 4 went natural but still think he had options on the bench he was reluctant to use. People said he couldnt have brought adil at the weekend as he was playing rigg CM, but you have absolutely could have subbed rigg for him tonight and he didnt
Does he just not really fancy anyone on the bench? 80 minutes on the clock, 0-0 at home and dominating possession but not creating a great deal. Not a single Sunderland player warming up
Mayenda looked to be carrying an injury towards the end of the game. Kept feeling his hamstring. Hope it was nothing. I'm not sure Connelly was not fit didn't warm.up at half time and never saw him sprinting or doing much warm up all game. Disappointing result against a very organised but poor team. Came for a point got it but God they were negative. Someone mentioned Watson not being ready I tend to agree he would be better as a sub for 20 minutes or so but I suppose at the minute needs must. Lack of substitutions is a bit of a worry for me. Sometimes you just have to take a risk do something unexpected to cause your opponents problems. Anyway on we go to a very difficult game Friday. Let's remember also a lot of us would gladly have had a top 6 finish at the start of the season. Every team has a sticky patch look at man city. We are still firmly amongst it and the wins will re appear soon. Stick with the lads or keep the faith lads and lasses.
Part of me is disappointed in the players there too. Go out and show him you’re raring to go! You don’t need permission to run up and down the line surely. “boss i reckon I could have an impact “ etc. Maybe that’s just because it’s how I always was as a sub!
Couldn’t agree more. If I was on the bench, especially as an attacking player, I’d be itching to get on and make an impact!
Weirdly enough think we win Friday. said we’d win tonight but didn’t expect WBA to play anti football. One things for sure is Sheffield United will not sit in.
I admire your optimism but I don’t give us much hope. Would be shocked to snatch a point never mind all 3.
Watson looks good when he’s running at the defenders. He could be a right handful. He’s a million miles away from being a consistent first team player in the championship, though. He can barely stand on his weak foot never mind use it. Seen him at one stage on the edge of the box doing a ridiculously slow 180 with the ball just so he could keep it on his right peg rather than use his left. If he could shift it between both feet quickly he’d have had a few chances tonight to get his shots away or set it up for someone else. I watched Dan Neil closely tonight, again. The very first thing he done in the game was give the ball away needlessly. He done that several times throughout the game as well as pointless fouls. No idea why people think he’ll end up at somewhere like Liverpool. I can’t think of a single premier league team, at the moment, that he’d start for. We controlled that game without ever really looking like we were going to make the breakthrough. I don’t see the point in Roberts. Forwards are supposed to score and/or assist. He does neither. If the worst happens at Sheffield Utd and we get beat, that’ll be 5 points from 6 games. That would be relegation form and put somewhere right near the bottom of the form table which are usually done on runs of 6 games. We need a spark from somewhere to get us going again. It’s all a bit slow and predictable currently.
Only scanned bits of the thread after the game so could’ve missed stuff. Much been said on Hume? I don’t think he’s been great this season.
Genuinely thought Rigg was the best of our midfielders tonight. Late on in the game a ball came into him and after a little scan his first touch was special, just took the closest WBA player completely out of the game It’s all about opinions though and I certainly respect yours mate.
Only seen first half as had to go to work but from what I seen Watson is still not quite ready but he needs games to be ready so is worth keeping him playing. our shape looked good but West Brom surprised me with how negative they were as I expected them to really try and play through us which didn't really happen. We just need to keep doing what we do with some minor adjustments and I think we will be fine and these draws will again turn to victories fairly soon.
That linesman is a ****ing bluffer, he couldnt see anyone offside for that goal, and how when we sneeze they get a free kick, but they constantly pull and push our players about and nothing? And was their manager imitating Kermit on the sidelines? I knew at half time it was 0-0, they were about as exciting as their support
We drew 0-0 against a top 6 side whilst playing 4 academy players and one of the most promising teenagers in the country in Jobe. We've got a group of players that are incredibly likeable both to watch and in character. We've got a tough game on Friday where any point will be a bonus and then we have 6 games against mid-table teams in December. They are all winnable if we keep our heads up and we're still in an excellent position that we would have all been thrilled to be in at the start of the season. Last night was frustrating but upon reflection, there's still so much to be positive about.
There is but we have to be also reflective of the last month or so. We have been poor. No wins in 5 and most of the draws are agaist very average teams. No big hitters in there. It's not a surprise we are a couple behind league leaders and surrendered a 4 point lead at the top. I think something needs to change personally. That won't be popular but we need to be a bit braver in how we approach games and trust some players. It's too familiar. I think 99% of stadium knew it was going to be a 0-0 at half time. That's never a good thing.
Because we've had loads of injuries, every team goas through a dip but the fact we are having a dip and still picking up points with a massively patched up team gives me plenty of confidence.
