Saw bits and pieces,WH actually playing some nice stuff.Anyone have West Ham winning 2-0 away to Newcastle? No one? Yup, league is nuts.
Even Wan-Bissaka looked half decent....

It's like some of us have said previously, some are easier targets than others but you can't trust politicians. Most are just in it for themselves. I've never had any allegiance to any political party and I don't see that changing. In the mid 90's Biden wrote (and still brags about ) the 'Crime Bill', which exploded the prison population to what it is today. The largest penal colony on
the planet. Obviously with a large proportion of 'people of colour'.
He also infamously said 'I don't want my kids growing up in a racial jungle' with regard to desegragation.
What an awful human being that man is.
SameI've never had any allegiance to any political party and I don't see that changing.

It's interesting you say that because, I believe it was Bernie Sanders who castigated Kamala Harris for focusing her campaign on that issue and ignoring the real issues that the American people were actually worried about, the economy being the top one, healthcare and control of the border also up there.I've never affiliated for any party either, and I've voted all over the board. Always voted for whoever Trump's main rival is though Presidentially because he is a threat to democracy and the biggest enemy of the US.

Gallup does a survey asking Americans "Are you satisfied with the way US democracy is working?" This year only 28% said that they were satisfied, the lowest share since 1984. Another low was in 2016 when Obama failed to save 'underwater' homeowners but even then it was at 40%. I don't really know because I'm too far away from it but calls of threats to democracy might be a little sensationalist at this point. As always, we have to wait and see.
I don't know anything about the tariffs proposal so I'd have to read up on it before commenting. On the face of it, what you've just posted about how people have responded, looks odd.Saw a survey where was asking people questions.
1 - top Priority and the economy came out huge winnner
2 - do you think tariffs should be brought in? People answered yes…
3 - do you think tariffs would make things more expensive. People answered yes.
some people are just stupid unfortunately.
I'd say the 'segment who didn't turn up' for Harris was the so called Gen Z men, mostly white but a rise in black voters also. It was often reported about the huge gender gap among young voters. Harris failed to appeal to young men, concentrating on young women instead who overwhelmingly voted for her. It's pretty clear that the Trump campaign kept its message and it's vote.
76.8million racists and idiots according to some.
74.2 million in 2020
62.9mil in 2016.
What does that tell you?
He literally killed about 500k Americans due to his handling of covid and got 12million more votes.
He's gone up another 2mil by simply talking about the price of eggs.
Harris 74.3
Biden 81.2
Clinton 65.8
A segment somewhere didn't show up for Harris
Turnout in 2016 59.2%, 2020 63.2%
The vote thst turned up to eject Trump in 2020 was not impressed by Biden and they didn't bother turning up again (and no they were not fake)
More and more americans are voting for these extreme views and approach. They are rejecting doing it like it has been done and frankly want to hammer friend and foe alike to gain back power and money.

I hear what you are saying although honestly, economics isn't an area that I know anything about or can comment on in any meaningful way. I know it was the top concern for voters and that's about it.He's trying to return the world to the 1930s. He's wants to tax everything heavily that comes into the country. That includes British goods btw. He wants everything to be made in the US and go back to being an industrial economy in opposition to international trade.
Other countries will respond in kind and it will hurt the global economy (but especially the US). It's probably going to exacerbate inflation in the US, something that was caused in part in the first place by all the crazy stimulus packages from the covid era by Trump. Inflation here has only just returned to normal but it will be back again soon.
He wants to head more to a controlled economy where DC decides what gets made and who makes it rather than the free-market economy that the US has traditionally had.
I think talk of threats to democracy goes both ways. When asked, 9 out of 10 Harris voters, said it about a Trump win and 8 out of 10 Trump voters said it about a Harris win. Anything like that, that becomes a catchphrase, I think is sensationalist overreaction - white supremacy, toxic masculinity, critical race theory ..... they don't actually mean anything.
I'm not going to look up any of the things you've listed here because I don't care enoughTrump voters just said it to parrot Trump who made an accusation against himself and passed it off on the opposition.
Looking at facts though:
Trump has already tried to get one election overturned claiming it was fake (with no evidence)
Led a coup attempt on the government.
Called a governor and tried to strong arm him into changing the vote.
Said he will close down Newspapers that say negative things about him.
Threatened to close down a TV network after he lost the debate.
Pressured the Supreme Court into saying he can commit no crime while president (they even said he can even have them assassinated)
He has publicly said there will be no election in 4 years. That this is the last one.
Wants to remove all non-political federal workers and replace them with politically based staff.
Called any politician that didn't applaud him a traitor.
The threat with Trump is legitimate. I'm just hoping he's too old to follow through. There is nothing with Harris of substance to suggest she would be anything other than a normal US President.
Edit... don't want to turn this into a Trump thread... so copying here from Huffpost the cliffnotes of his first term in office:
- Tried to buy Greenland.
- Wanted to nuke hurricanes.
- Doctored a hurricane forecast map with a Sharpie.
- Attempted a coup to stay in power.
- Absconded with thousands of classified documents, lied about it and refused to give them back when the feds asked nicely.
- Sent unidentified federal officers to Portland, Oregon, to abduct protesters and spark a conflagration that could be used as a pretense for implementing martial law.
- Ordered peaceful protesters tear-gassed so he could pose for a photo-op with a Bible outside a church.

- Asked Russia for help in his 2016 campaign — and got it.

- Wanted to withdraw the U.S. from NATO.
- Separated migrant parents from their children, locked the kids in cages and then failed to reunite them.
- Insisted that “raking” would prevent forest fires because “you’ve got to take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important.”
- Covered for Saudi Arabia after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the gruesome murder and dismemberment of a U.S. journalist with a bone saw. (Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, owes Saudi Arabia $2 billion, and the crown prince has reportedly bragged about having Kushner “in his pocket.”)
- Intervened to get Kushner top-secret clearance after he was denied over concerns about foreign influence.
- Put Kushner in charge of Middle East peace.
- Embraced rampant nepotism.
- Touted injecting disinfectant as a COVID-19 cure.
- Touted ultraviolet light as a COVID-19 cure.
- Touted hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 cure.
- Touted ivermectin as a COVID-19 cure.
- Told people not to wear face masks to cut down the spread of COVID-19, even though they work.
- Actively discouraged COVID-19 testing.
- Refused to send federal aid to New York City amid the first COVID-19 wave because the virus was hitting Democratic-voting states hardest.
- “Jokingly” said on multiple occasions that he deserved to be president for more than two terms.
- Thought climate change was a Chinese hoax.
- Built an incomplete border wall that doesn’t work, wasn’t needed and wasn’t paid for by Mexico.
- Started a trade war with China that mainly hurt U.S. consumers.
- Threw food when angry.
- Saw no problem with his vice president potentially being hanged by a violent mob he’d summoned and sent to the U.S. Capitol to disrupt the peaceful transition of power.
- Stared directly at the sun.
- Started his presidency with an easily disproved lie about the crowd size at his inauguration.
- Thought people needed an ID to buy cereal.
- Fired James Comey as FBI director because he didn’t like the bureau investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election. (Later, it was revealed that Trump’s campaign manager gave detailed internal polling data to a Russian intelligence agent.)
- Was a “****ing moron,” according to Rex Tillerson, his secretary of state.
- Fired the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s China-based pandemic response team — and then when a pandemic happened years later, said, “I don’t take responsibility at all” for COVID-19.
- Repeatedly embraced racism.
- Thought repeating “person, woman, man, camera, TV” would assure Americans of his mental stability.
- Tweeted literal gibberish — a lot.
- Lied all the time. (And still does.)
- Openly embraced and amplified QAnon conspiracy theories.
- Got impeached twice.
- Passed huge tax cuts for wealthy corporations ― and massively grew the national debt.
- Flip-flopped on whether the White House had ordered the USS John McCain be hidden so he wouldn’t get mad. (It did.)
- Called American military members who died in the line of duty “losers” and “suckers.”
- Claimed to have bone spurs to get out of military service.
- Binge-watched Fox News when he should have been working.
- Played so, so much golf.
- Raked in cash from foreign interests at his Washington hotel in an operation sometimes described as the “epicenter” of a corrupt presidency.
- Held a rally that may have led to the death of Herman Cain.
- Allegedly directed his lawyer to commit campaign fraud to cover up that Trump cheated on his wife after she had recently given birth.
- Was accused of sexual misconduct by more than two dozen women.
- Dismissed any bad news about himself as “fake.”
- Lied about voluntarily turning over his tax returns.
- Ate well-done steak — with ketchup.
- Described white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, as “very fine people.”
- Grossly abused the presidential pardon on his way out the door.
- Used private communication services extensively after arguing that Hillary Clinton should be jailed for having a private email server.
- Refused to release White House visitor logs.
- Went to Puerto Rico and threw paper towels at people desperate for actual hurricane aid.
- Discouraged exercise because he believes bodies are like batteries, with a finite amount of energy.
I'm not going to look up any of the things you've listed here because I don't care enough
Just one thing jumped out at me from your list, not the spoiler list, is the one about him saying 'there will be no election in 4 years, this will be the last one'. That is very misleading. I watched the video where he was addressing a Christian Conservative group urging them to vote. He said (paraphrasing) Christians don't vote and they should. He said if you get out and vote in numbers this time, we'll fix the country so good, you won't need to go and vote in 4 years. I won't need your vote.
I think we should probably leave this here, as you say not turn it into a Trump thread.
