Really enjoyable performance that. Impressed by Trey, Lenz and Lavery in particular.

Been pretty consistent in my opinion on Trey for the last year or so, think he's the next one to come out of our academy. Has everything you want in a modern striker.

Lenz you can tell has been coached at a high level. Not the quickest which may cause him problems further down the line but his ability to sniff out danger and play simple passes is very good.

Hope Jewi gets a good loan move in January. He was playing in a world cup 2 years ago, needs to be playing first team football somewhere.

His game is improving - certainly the decision making. He's finding the easy pass rather than dribbling into trouble.
I'd still like him to be around the first team but we are a bit stacked in that area at the moment

Well done lads great resolt. I was hoping to see more of Geragusian, but very happy with that performance, especially second half . Goalkeeper is a weak link and Trey does not look anywhere near first team material yet to me, but its all about opinions.
 
Sunderland Under-21s put in a five-star performance in the National League Cup with a victory over Tamworth at the Lamb Ground.

Goals from Trey Ogunsuyi, Tom Lavery, Jaydon Jones and Ben Crompton sealed a 5-1 triumph in Group C.

The Lads flew straight out the traps grabbing the opener after just two minutes. Jenson Jones' strike deflected off Ogunsuyi and rolled into the net.

Just moments later, Jones was involved again, feeding the ball to Lavery to finish beyond Leon Phillips.

The hosts pulled one back on the cusp of half time when Callum Cockerill-Mollett converted the cross from close range.

The Black Cats started the second half in the same manner when Jewison Bennette's effort was parried into the path of Ogunsuyi to seal his brace.

Jaydon Jones made an instant impact off the bench adding the fourth with 15 to play. A smart finish inside the area confirmed his second of the season for the U21s.

Crompton wrapped up the contest in the final few minutes rounding off an excellent team move with a low strike into the bottom corner.

Graeme Murty's side return to league action on Monday with a trip to Sheffield United.

Trey still has another three years at u21 level, he is showing all the right signs for his age, if he can keep steady development for that time he will be capable of being in and around the first team squad in my opinion.

I'm not sure what is going on with the keepers but I would broadly agree some of the lads (Dan Cameron, Adam Richardson) haven't come on as we were expecting 18 months ago, injuries have played some part in that. I think Chibueze, who was previously released by Chelsea and Leicester, was brought in because he was an England youth international and the club wanted to see if he slipped through the net.

Thanks for that insight mate , explains a few things that have puzzled me , as you say we were well served by our keepers at this level last season who have all mysteriously disappeared or regressed somewhat.
