Awful event, so I went and found some bits on it, it appears they don't actually have a hate crime law in Michigan...

We do have something called an ethnic intimidation law," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said. It's a high misdemeanor offense, a low-class felony that carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison. At the federal level, it's 10 years.

The article also mentioned domestic abuse, so I looked into that as well...

He remains in prison as a threat to the community. Looking at his age 73, I would like to think he will not see the light of day again.

Antony Snook jailed for a minimum of 38 years, at last some sensible sentencing.

He was the getaway driver of the two young lads killed in a case of mistaken identity.

There’s a joke in there along the lines of the bloke ‘Snook’ off but not quite there with it yet.

SKY News running a report about shop lifting, in the time the reporter was in the shop (small local store), they caught three shop lifters, how are these retailers surving with that level of shop lifting, I'd heard about it, but never realised it was this bad. These are not hungry people, some are just kids chancing their luck, one kid picked up what looked like 3 large bags of crisps and put them straight in his backpack - they do it because the police don't come out if it's less than £200, so you could do your weekly shop and just walk out with a trolley full of goodies and take your chances, ridiculous.

Couldn’t be arsed reading that far tbh. I’m sure he did. I doubt either of them looked up the age of consent in the UAE. If you’re 18 and get chatting to a girl of 17 I doubt that even crosses your mind. Even less so her mum will think it’s a good idea to go to the police. I wouldn’t even say it’s a silly mistake. Just **** luck her mum is such a ridiculous ****.
