There are three times this season where Perch has played for a lengthy period of time:

Nottingham Forest 3 - 4 Newcastle United

Blackburn 4 - 3 Newcastle United

Newcastle 0 - 3 Chelsea

Norwich 4 - 2 Newcastle *update*

Goals conceded with Perch = 14 in 4 games = 3.5 goals per game avg

Goals conceded without Perch = 11 in 14 games = 0.78 goals per game avg

Enough said I think.

Thing is he wasn't bad today except for that one slip up for the first goal. We need a new centre back desperately in the transfer window. If I was Pardew I would go for Pieters as he can play left back and cover centre back and I would also sign another centre back for squad depth.

Cabaye was at fault for first goal to be fair...

Should try and sign Alex from Chelski. He seems like a canny defender at times. Just heard from SSN he wants a transfer lol

He did alright today to be fair to him, but as I said on another thread let's not get carried away - he is still Perch and still made mistakes.

Exactly he simply no good. I've noticed some people saying he was good today, however I suggest they look at how many times he was out of position. If Pardew doesn't Play Santon over him and Benny over Obertan he's not learned from his time at West Ham, where he played Harewood and Reo Coker over Macherano and Tevez. He's doing a great job overall but his subs and team selection in this game and the last were ridiculous.

Perch WAS at fault for the 1st goal. Cabaye let Mata get the cross in, but regardless of what Cabaye does/doesn't do - Perch's job was to mark Drogba and defend the central area/near post - he didn't do that!

Perch was good today man get off his back! Poor fella kept Drogba quiet in second half and you wouldn't blame colo of he'd done the same for the 1st goal

I don't care he's **** and we concede goals goals and ****ing goals every time I see his face.

Totally disagree I think perch played well. Leave your preconceptions out of it and you'd probably have realised the same

This. Stop ****ing hating on Perch guys. Yes he isn't good enough to be playing for us on a REGULAR basis but he's decent cover atleast. Obviously by next summer I'll like to see him go though.. because with a fully-fit squad and new additions I don't think he'll be on the bench.

<doh> You love James Perch don't you?

I usually right about most things and he cost us with the first goal, the first thing he did was pass straight to Lampard. He made a few lats ditch tackles however a good defender doesn't have to do that as often if they position well. I guess I'm saying Santon will be better. simple as that.

No one blames Cabaye for anything, as they obviously write/think with their dicks and their dicks are too busy throbbing over Cabaye. Cabaye's defending against Mata for that goal was piss poor.

Cabayes good most of the time
