It seems Hull FC actually are having a good day...

Hull FC are on the cusp of a new era as a complete takeover of the club nears completion. Yorkshire businessmen Andrew Thirkill and David Hood OBE, who have a combined wealth in the region of £500 million, have entered a period of exclusivity to finalise the takeover, which will see them assume one-hundred percent ownership of the club.
Rovers short period of being top dog all but over?

Doesn’t matter if they are worth £500 million. They will still have limits on what they can spend. Bill Gates and Elon Musk could buy City but not be able to spend more than we are doing.

Exactly salary cap sport.
Stadium ownership seems to be the only way they will make money and the council are willing to sell (if rumours are true)

FC could buy the stadium and kick us out?

No any sale would have a clause in it that both clubs are using it.
City would just need to pay a rent I guess.
Hopefully Acun is already in talks with new Hull owners as he can’t afford to buy the stadium so hopefully getting a good deal.

Well, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the council after blocking any attempts for City to buy it selling it to FC. In the unlikely event of that happening would love it if City could build a new stadium and leave FC to see how they could manage on their own.

I’m sure acun could afford to buy it, was it tan or someone on here that said the council wanted about £7million for it

Maybe he knew about this and it would explain what is felt by supporters a distancing from the club as he is not in position to compete financially with Hull’s new owners.

Because they are worth £500 million doesn’t mean they have huge amounts to spare, most of it could be tied up in assets.

No news from Rerver. He is probably licking his wounds on hearing this news <laugh>

The SMC lease runs to 2052, any new owner couldn't do anything until the end of the term, or they'd have to buy the SMC as well (which is currently carrying almost £22m in cumulative losses), so there's little chance of any change in ownership.
