It is only about a 7 hour drive and the host did say he would drive anywhere.

 

You'll get some proper lager or pils,when in Rome etc

At a risk of sounding like Mon,Pils or Pilsner originated in Bohemia and the Germans copied/robbed it.

I don't like lager. If I can find real ale in the Philippines then I'm sure I can find it in Germany.

 

I hear you,gone off lager myself and drinking IPAs now,Kinnegar or Wicklow Wolf,Guinness when in pub.

I'll try not to make a **** of myself when I'm over there
I'm well up for sampling their big sausages and also taking in some of the culture. Wonder if the "Devil's Wheel" is still going at this time of year.

 

There's bound to be an ale or something similar,I'm sure there's Belgium beers readily available,be fun trying!
