I didn't say it would be a good idea for RVN to come here - just that he won't fit in at Manure any more. FWIW I like the suggestion of Mowbray if his health has sufficiently improved

I know. I said some people Someone further up the thread seemed to think it would be an idea to consider.

Anyone listened to the 1904 podcast, Baz referenced something slater had said that Tim doesn’t speak to the players 1 to 1. I got the impression slater had said or implied more but I didn’t hear his interview. Does anyone know what Baz was referring to?

Sorry got the wrong idea of this thread, thought we were looking to provide Tim (new manager) with some ideas seeing as he's got none of his own.

And that’s it they’ll never come back?
Christ we should just accept relegation now

I didn’t say that Chazz. I asked you for some positives from the last few games to help me try and see why Walter could be the man after all.

It was a genuine question, but never mind.

The positives are there as Jim keeps pointing out

Yes I’m asking for specific positives about how we have played since those wins.

It worries me that outside of those three wins (which I’m not trying to take away as a wins a win) we’ve not really looked like winning any other game. I’d be happier if we seemed to still be getting better but we don’t.

You never started with that

we were all over Portsmouth
How about that
Should have been out of sight

but nope it’s all **** and no positives
Crack on

This was my first post to you.

What are the good signs? I could do with looking at some positives.

I did mean in the last 5 games, which I thought was fairly obvious even if I didn't spell it out.

I'm not trying to be negative Chazz, I was genuinely asking you about what the positives were since our last win to try and see it from the other point of view.

We've tightened up massively in defence ove the last 3 games. That's a positive for me

Moyes

but I reckon he might be back at West Ham soon

but again 13 games in ffs

give the bloke chance to get it right
There are signs it looks good
Don’t get me wrong I don’t understand why we’re doing some of the things we’re doing but u watch motd and championship highlights and many other daft ****ers are doing it too

Why do you reckon Moyes will be back at West ham soon? Lopetegui has only had 10 games, give him time.

This was my first post to you.

Last 8 games we've had 3 convincing wins, 3 draws that we've failed to capitalise on winning positions & good control of each game, plus 2 defeats (1 against team at top of league).
I would say we've shown lots of positives during those games, but granted also quite a lot to work on and improve.
The pile on Tim on this board is totally out of proportion. Yes, there is a lot to do to get the consistency required to climb the table but I think we've got gradually better as the season has progressed. The first half v Pompey was pretty good, but goals change matches and the players had to show more mettle in second half and they sort of bottled it, not helped by our fans reaction which was very poor (but Tim shouldn't have said so publicly!)

Agreed, on the whole, although I think the second half on Saturday wasn’t the best showing for our defence.

Thank you.

I personally don't think the defence was the issue second half, it was everything in front of them, even the goal came from daft individual mistake yet again.

Another positive for me is that against 2 of the best teams in the league we matched them and at times looked better than them.

Saturday another positive was the speed of transition at times in the first half

Hughes has been a positive across all his games

They're just of the top of my head

Im not sure I agree with you about the Burnley and Sunderland games. I thought we did match them but I still thought we looked far too patchy and not fluent enough in terms of the team working together. I came away from both thinking they were strange games on the whole and not a massive step forward from the start of the season. But the defence and Hughes were significantly better so I’m with you there.

If we’d have stepped up a bit more against Portsmouth I’d probably look back on them a bit more fondly - but I guess Saturday only strengthened my thoughts that we weren’t quite doing as well as I’d hoped.

But you can’t have it both ways I guess and if we pick up in the coming games then I’ll be happy to chalk up Portsmouth as more of a blip.

Portsmouth laid the blueprint on Saturday. The second half they just pressed much higher up the pitch, so we didn’t have time or space to pass out from the back, we couldn’t consistently pass through the high press. That in itself highlights a limitation of the current system. I’m sure if bottom of the league Portsmouth can do it, so can any other side.
