    Hey guys, Saints fan in peace, looking to know what you think about Torres? The impression I got from clips such as MotD (obviously not the same as watching him properly, but still) was that he was starting to come back into form. He was looked sharp, quick and lively, then after the red card he seems to have gone down in the pecking order again. I was just wondering if this is a a fair assessment, what your thoughts are, and who your preferred striker would be.

    Many thanks.

    (Obviously don't watch Chelsea week-in week-out, so my view may be completely wrong, but don't be too mean on me ;))

    <ok>

    Don't think he'll be the same again, some Chelsea fans will disagree with that. We need to start giving reserve team players a chance, players like Lalkovic and Lukaku (even though he has also been awful with a hefty price tag, anderlecht will be rubbing their hands)

    He'll certainly never be the same again in a blue shirt. ......None of our lads pass to him everytime Drogba, Sturridge, Malouda and to a greater part Lamps gets the ball they shoot when he is often in a better position. It won't happen ever!

    See - If Hoddle posted thread like this one there'd be no problem, we can take constructive criticism and I'm still shocked he even tried to justify his wummery <grr>

    Torres is still world class in my opinion and with the right players around him he would be on fire for us. But i don't think his the right player for us and i'd rather build the team around Lalkovic or Sturridge due to their ages. But in the right team say Barca/Madrid/Arsenal Torres would be ****ing firing em in trust me. Quality player in the wrong team

    Would also be a bit helpful if our prick of a manager didn't keep picking Drogba over Torres when Drogbas leaving at the end of the season or in january, Torres should be given this season to try and play in our team and if it doesn't work then we should cut our losses and get rid of him, giving him 5 minutes every ****ing game aint going to do nothing for him, but then again this manager doesn't seem to have a clue, i mean his casted Alex and Anelka out the squad and their not even training with the first team at the moment and will be leaving in january which is the most ridiculous thing i've ever head, Anelka is quality and much better than Kalou and Alex is one of our best center backs, strong, good in the air, and a great strike of a ball. AVB does just need time to adjust to the PL though because at the moment i think the club is too big for him and his not use to having these moany star players, at the end of the season he can build his own team and everyone will have respect for him, i still think a lot of our players had so much respect for Mourinho / Hiddink they haven't been able to get over not having them as a manager any more

    What has queered Torres pitch is the remarkable progress of Sturridge , who has made himself undroppable! Without him I'm sure Torres would have spent much more time in the 1st XI. I think ABV would be wise to favour him over Drogba! I think he would have secured it, but for the sending off!

    I think you are right AVB should start with Torres & Sturridge in almost every game and let them build a partnership, what has he got to lose? It's not working at the moment anyway.

    Exactly, in my opinion this seasons a write off and a transition season, why keep playing players that are going to be leaving in january or at the end of the season? We might aswell give the future game-time now and let them mould into the team so come next year their going to be ripe and ready otherwise next year were going to have to do it then it's going to be another wasted season because their going to need time, we might aswell do it now and plan for next season
