The way Villa play could suit us but could also punish us. Definitely be goals, our home form is good though and we should have stuffed them last year so reasons to be optimistic.

Gonna have to go strong (we have plenty
"previous" on how Emery Villa set up at WHL) .

With the Galatasary game looming (that will require a
strong starting XI) , the squad have to front up today
and get a win done and dusted by no later than mid 2nd
half (allow the manager to make the resting subs for the EL game) .

    No VDV anywhere (worrying :( ) .
    Very attacking starting XI though.

Maddison rightly dropped imo. Let’s see how he responds to it, will he use it to show his quality and fight for his place or will he sulk and fall out of favour permanently (as the manager won’t suffer fools)

Interesting that Maddison appears to have lost his place permanently.

You are confusing what I want with what will happen.

He's been underwhelming since that first run of games, but in fairness I don't think the system or formation suits him. He isn't strong, fast or combative enough to help the high press, and in the 433 setup tends to start on the left, which forces him to always cut inside as he is very one-footed (a separate problem imo), and all that does is take him into spaces already occupied by Son, Solanke, the other CM and often Udogie too. He seems confused as to how to interpret his role, and this season has been dropping deeper quite often - I think he's doing this not just in search of the ball, but in search of space.

It's not something spoken about enough re Ange's system imo but the result of playing inverted wingers AND inverted midfielders AND full backs who cut inside in attacking phases means that the central areas are extremely congested with lots of players making the same runs.

I agree but then you have to question why he was signed. Tbh I think there are a few players that would look better in a different system.

Madison ain't looked the same since he returned from injury in late January.

He ain't working as hard is looking like Dele did towards the end. Lots of flicks, social media stuff etc but very little on the pitch.

This is the player I thought we'd bought tbh so was delighted with what I saw up until his injury but he don't deserve to be in the first team imho
