This thread just proves his point.
There are MANY people who echo his thoughts but are fearful to speak their mind as it may offend.
Not everyone will mourn for too long.
once the initial shock dies down there is more that share the views of HD.

I can say that many people around me at the Hull game and around other grounds i'm sure, share his view.

Just shouldn't put it on twitter.

It's insensitive to tweet something like that so soon afterwards, so that was a stupid thing to do. But I do agree with his opinion. Joey Barton got a lot of stick for tweeting about suicide being selfish, but he's totally right.
 
If suicide is selfish, then how about the people around him who would rather he live a life of misery than take a peaceful way out? Is that not being extremely selfish itself? If someone has reached a point where death is the only option for them then I consider it selfish to force them to stop.

It's never the only option. It's a bad decision made in a moment of weakness.
 
I think the main offence was the part noRIP - that was the most insensitive and harsh thing ever, no matter how he died

Yeah it was. He wasn't constantly depressed for six years, it was on and off. Have you read the book?

Hey, that's the attitude. He's a kid, in relative terms yet you have dismissed him as not fit to represent SFC, and then condemned him with your colluquial representation of a homosexual, by referring to him as a ***got [and please don't find the excuse as he was a small piece of the whole, because I won't buy it]. Everyone is entitled to the odd mistake. Have a little tolerance.

Again, for some. Unless you know exactly what was in the head of somebody who committed suicide as they did it, then you can never damn them as cowards. To do so is ignorant and horrendously disrespectful.

To say they are cowards is obviously wrong. Anyone can end up in that position, and feel like they have no other choice. But they are wrong to think that, because they have no idea how the rest of their life might play out.
 
I think he is just an uneducated idiot who thinks everyone wants to hear what he has to say (I understand I am acting along similar lines by commenting on a forum); regardless of whether I agree with his views on someones suicide than neither he nor I actually met, or not.
Twitter is a portal for prats like harlee and joey barton to show off to a wider audience; some people entertain (look at nigel adkins profile on twitter, its hilarious), however some like joey barton use it to boost their ego by collecting "followers".
Harlee dean realised his comments may affect his career and deleted them, like a coward, at least joey barton sticks by the rubbish he writes.

Barton seems to be pretty intelligent. He's really reinvented himself, can't fault him for that.

Quoting "The Smiths" does not make you intelligent; listen to an interview with him and count the amount of times he says "you know". However, I agree he comes over better than most over twitter, but anyone can come over well in 140 characters. My main point though is that is a medium for egotistical people to spout rubbish to thousands of people, joey barton and harlee dean fall into this category.
On the other hand, twitter does have its uses, it was my main source of news regarding the London riots when I was in Italy.
