Well it's all rather complicated, the family of Chris kaba and their supporters successfully campaigned to get the police officer charged with murder named months before the court case. This resulted in a bounty being put on his head so he and his family have had to go into hiding. On the other hand the deceaseds past activities were not released until after the court case, now this is normal in most court cases but in this instance those activities may have had a bearing on what happened on the night of the shooting.

Personally I don’t see the need to name Police who shoot someone unless it’s established they did something wrong (the Copper did something wrong that is!)
Can’t for the life of me think why you’d want a gun as a copper because although I suppose it might be a good career move, I don’t think they get paid more do they?
I mean maybe the desire to be an armed Copper without extra pay might attract the wrong sorts (?…no idea) but it’s a bloody lot of risk isn’t it.
Fair enough to name them if there’s a case against them, but otherwise surely naming them would put off new recruits doing it?

Agreed , as I said last week to actually get an armed officer out takes an awful lot of input from within the police and other authorities - unlike the tv in the US they don’t just rush out with arms and shoot people . Let’s hope it stays that way .

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I was sitting having breakfast with my wife. I meant to ask her to pass me the sugar but I ended up saying, “You've made my life a misery, you fat, ugly bastard!”

It's already begun(officers have had enough).

I saw an interview with Mark Rowley last month and I'm sure he said a third of officers have handed back their tasers and a quarter had handed back their firearms?

There was no need to name the police officer. The family and their supporters knew of Chris kaba and his involvement in illegal activities but carried 9n with their campaign to make out it was a racist assassination of a bloke out for an evening drive, even after the unprecedented private showing of the police bady cam footage clearly showing the driver of a car linked to two shooting incidents in the previous week trying to break out of a road block by ramming the police cars and surrounded by armed police officers on foot.

That aside who would want to be an armed police office if that is where you are going to end up for doing your job.
As another aside those who were fighting with the police in Manchester Airport should think themselves very lucky they didn't get shot dead.
