Gossip?! It was quite hard to avoid, SF! I didn't publicise it on this board, because I didn't want any of the inevitable bullshit to spread over here, but I thought people would've noticed it anyway, in all honesty. There were some rather insensitive threads and comments on the General Chat board about Gary Speed's death. A lot of people took offence, primarily from the Newcastle board, though this could just be because it seems to be the most populated one. It all kicked off for a while, to the point that the site owner had to create a new sub-section for GC, various mods quit and there's now basically a state of cold war between the Geordies and the Old Firm. Pretty ridiculous and overly dramatic, eh?
My BFF is Greek, but as she gets the bus to work she usually doesn't get to pick up Metro - which is handy, because otherwise she'd be lording it over me until I have to lower the tone by bringing up the Second Peloponnesian War...
I'm surprised, not least because Spurs haven't spent that much in this period. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We've SOLD and loaned out loads you idiot, payments are made for that aswell. Can we have some better wummage please, this is rubbish!
No, they don't, Pat. To be fair, General Chat is/was known for being a virtually unmoderated board and comments about the death of Amy Winehouse, for example, went without any fuss. RE: Lidls Not sure why people are on the defensive about his comment. It's a fair observation. I assume that's why we got van der Vaart so cheaply and were able to sign Gallas at a reported knocked down wage.
Don't agents get a fee for free transfers? If so, that would cover Gallas, Friedel and Ceballos. I wouldn't be surprised if an agent fee was used to bring Khumalo from SuperSports to whoever will take him on loan, as there's a lot of jiggery pokery in African football. Or you could look at the agencies we're dealing with and make assumptions on fees based on their clients... Sandro William Gallas Rafael Van Der Vaart Scott Parker
RE: Lidls Not sure why people are on the defensive about his comment. It's a fair observation. I assume that's why we got van der Vaart so cheaply and were able to sign Gallas at a reported knocked down wage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Its suggesting to me we've paid over inflated agent fees frivolously on a few signings which is not the case, agents get payments for selling aswell as buying, and we've outed more than we've bought last TW. "I assume that's why we got van der Vaart so cheaply and were able to sign Gallas at a reported knocked down wage." ??...Are you saying the bigger the player in status, the bigger the agent fee? So if you get a player on the cheap, the agent gets more?? I really don't think it works like that mate.
Luke, you explained in a previous post that we (Spurs Fans) have left the goons, the chavs and the bin-dippers behind for now and have earned the right to swap wummage with United fans...you! I thought your post was just that. If it is on a serious note, my post explains we were busy in the window getting rid of all the ****...wouldn't you pay to get rid of Keano & Hutton!
Given they appear to be burning George Formby, that's probably a good idea... please log in to view this image
I'm really looking forward to it, now I've seen the draw. Every group looks extremely tricky for every team. Poland and the Ukraine are probably the weakest teams in it and they're the hosts, so they've both got that boost. Denmark must be fuming.
I'm dreading the tabloids on the day of the France match... If only Israel qualified and were in that group - it'd read: Catholic, Catholic, Catholic...uh oh. Holland guaranteed two punch-ups: Germany offers a repeat of the 1990 WC match, whilst Portugal offer a return engagement after the Battle of Nuremberg in 2006.
