Wasn't that ref demoted from the Prem League for being CRAP ?
Huddersfield/Cambridge/Fleetwood...Its over to you....
Aye, fair enough. You seemed to me (and I know it’s annoying when a casual viewer comes along and tries to tell you what’s what) to have reigned in a lot of the kamikaze stuff today, there were real signs of improvement in that regard I thought. A good foundation to build on but, yeah, the goal was the exception to that so I can understand that frustration. We are upset because I think that is the 4th time we have conceded that same goal from our own corner from totally unnecessary kamikaze set up with our last man back at the edge of your D. At 0-0 on 62 minutes it’s just an utterly stupid thing to do, but I suppose it’s better than about 15 minutes when we gifted that goal to Sheffield United.

Because he should have learned your team’s set piece routines? I think Walter is talking nonsense on that.
I think you made Norwich look more impressive than they perhaps are (I watched the game) but I think they’ll be in the playoff mix.I thought you looked well organised and a strong side all the elements to get in the top 6 in the league. Bar that I thought you were poor. I’ve not really been that impressed with anyone in the league so far, bar maybe Norwich, think Leeds and Burnley will walk it at a canter. I assume it was one of your poorer performances but solid, exactly what you need to win 1-0 in this league.
We’ve spent a small fortune, and the differences in personal aren’t far away from
Both clubs. I feel your manager is better.
There is obviously disappointment after a shaky result this afternoon. But saying Sunderland were better than us is a bit strong, we dominated them for large parts of the game (without really threatening their goal much, granted) and their goal was the gift from everyone that kept on giving. I’m not down after todays efforts at all, I thought I saw signs of progress today against a strong opponent. This is really concerning and like I said, I'd judge it after ten games. We're now at that point, so thoughts:
We didn't look arsed from the get go today, but we've generally been pretty slow out of the blocks.
We didn't seem to have a clue in attack.
We've gone back to an either/or situation with attacking and defending when setting up.
He took off Puerta, who was having a great game and replaced him with Slater/Palmer who didn't change anything.
This formation/tactic doesn't suit having a lone striker, yet we persist with endless crosses into the box when Bedia's the only one there. I'd love to see a percentage stat of his header's won from crosses.
We looked more solid in defence and Hughes looked great.
That wasn't the improvement from Norwich I was hoping for, I understand the need for being tighter at the back, but a better manager would find a balance.
I want it to work, really I do; it'd be nice for us to have our turn with a German guy in charge who takes us up like Norwich and Huddersfield had, but in truth, we don't look anything like a top half team, let alone one chasing the playoffs. I've said this before, we know what the tactic is but it just doesn't suit the players we have. A concern really given that they were brought in to play in this exact formation. We had some good results against some crap teams, but we've now played four teams who will be up there at the end of the season in Sheff U, Leeds, Sunderland and Norwich and they just look a level better than we do.
If the aim is to get promoted this season, it isn't going to be with Tim Walter. Sorry if that sounds disloyal or whatever, I don't give a frig. If the aim this season is to just tread water and build the tactic and the team for next season, then maybe we can get away with that, but honestly, another 36 games like this and I can't say I'm enthused as to what's on the horizon.
I'm more than happy to be proved wrong, I want it to work out for him, I just can't see it given Acun's ambition.
Id be inclined to agree but it generally felt today as if they didn’t get out of 2nd gear and kept us at arms length really. Our midfield just doesn’t win the second or third ball that well at key moments.
So I’ve calmed down a little now.
The ref was a clown and one of the linesman wasn’t much better.
Im starting to have doubts about Walter. I counted nine times in the first half where their number 10 was completely unmarked by either Dremeh or Kamara, and it only looked a matter of time that one of their crosses by him was going to pay dividends. Walter seemed completely oblivious to it.
Our midfield looks non existent whoever plays there. It must be tactical that our only route to attack comes from the flanks.
Acun seems to have acquired a competent squad but Walter is starting to sound like Rosie now. Not been clinical enough. Trusting in the system etc etc.
But bringing another manager in at this stage means the season is finished in terms of challenging top half.
Why did'nt Mehelm push Madely over as if by accident then the game would have had to be stopped
another way to look at it would be to say we made a team who are comfortably top 2 look v ordinary and with a competent ref could've won.....that's obv not the whole truth, but there is some truth to it.If that sunderland team is good enough for top 2 at the end of the season then the standard really is ****e this year.
directly followed by the corner they scored from, was right behind it in south and it was going wideIn the second half, Belloumi blocked a clearance/pass from one of their players which looped over their keeper, who pulled of a great save. Surely this was a shot on target or am I hallucinating?
OK, was more central and it looked like it was going in.was right behind it in south and it was going wide
People say the same ****e every season against whoever is top. Its very, very rare teams just blow the entire league away over the course of a season. If that sunderland team is good enough for top 2 at the end of the season then the standard really is ****e this year.
We do dessert the midfield at times (often) but I actually thought it was our most sustained period on the ball up until the ref decided to man mark. We conceded lots of territory first half but I’d argue we were fairly comfortable too, they didn’t create loads and if not for a severe lack of good decision making, we could’ve really hurt them on several occasions. I agree after they scored, they were pretty comfortable but they’re top of the league for a reason and very well organised.Id be inclined to agree but it generally felt today as if they didn’t get out of 2nd gear and kept us at arms length really. Our midfield just doesn’t win the second or third ball that well at key moments.
If 90% of a teams corners are taken short, then obviously he should know that going into a game.Because he should have learned your team’s set piece routines? I think Walter is talking nonsense on that.
