How refreshing to read the news, trophies or no trophies AVB will be with us until the season is complete! Not only is this great news for our players, but it gives him the time he needs to transform our style of play! As long as we qualify for the CL next season, I can handle a year without a cup! It will hopefully pay big dividends next year! Well done Roman! Excuse the pun but Rome was not built in a day (it just happens to look like it was).

Hmm...time will tell. Abramovich is not noted for his patience he expects to see some smidgen of hope - so far this season our displays have been characterized by limp-wristed collapses, continued selection of out of form players and a total lack of motivation.

I would like to see AVB succeed but he has to start pulling finger and get some consistency into his team's performances; this month will be the ultimate acid test for his team -if results go our way it will provide an excellent springboard for the business end of the season. However, should we come away with diddly squat (esp Valencia) then it maybe time for AVB to update his CV.

I think the commitment to AVB already given, will transform the confidence and mentality of the squad! The players are very much behind him and this news can only turn the tide in our favour!

  4. Do any of us really believe this news? Do any of us really believe that the Russian oligarch will be content for Chelsea to finish 6th or 7th this season, perhaps finishing as London's 3rd best club and missing out on all European footy next season, and facing a revolt from you best players? Do any of us really believe AVB would survive that?

I'm not saying that you will finish outside the top 4, especially as I believe that the Toon will not maintain its fine form for the rest of the season; I am merely posing the question that IF that did happen, do any of us really believe that your playboy owner would break the habit of a lifetime and stick by his man?

    I, for one, don't.

As a Spud interloper I'm sure your hoping that Roman will sack him just before our match at three point lane. :)

Isn't the OP's point that AVB will be given the season?? Therefore conjecture about where we will or wont finish this season is only relevant to whether AVB will be with us next season.

Maybe if you read the post properly instead of frantically getting a reply in as soon as you can (to make yet another point that implies you are better than us) then it wouldn't come off like a load of old toss.

I think Chelsea would me mad to sack AVB.He needs time to put his imprint on the club,he has already proved he is a class manager.

  16. I've not changed my tune, at all. I still believe that we are the only team in London, at this point in time, that has a realistic chance of playing CL footy next season; and I have already gone on the record as saying that if you keep AVB you will not improve, and will finish outside the top 5. We are certainly stronger than you, at this point in time, and I believe that Arsenal are, too.

But, just because I believe something does not necessarily mean that it will happen. I'm not deluded, what ever you might choose to believe.

Are you, now, able to see what I mean? Or do I have to explain it further for you?

As I said yesterday--the backing of AVB by Roman and the players, would boost confidence. We are thank God ---back in business!
