Trouble is it don't help Elon being at the wheel.

Elon Musk is a classic example of those with wealth who will align themselves with actual fascists like Trump in order to protect the status quo that serves their interests.

What Musk and Trump have in common is monstrous, out of control egos, and an addiction to being adored. The more people they can brainwash with absolutely deranged bullshit, the more they can set themselves up as saviours of the human race. The real question is, why are so many people so easily taken in by the delusional ravings of these megalomaniac?

Imo, a lot of the ****e they and others talk about is deliberately designed to be alarmist and whip people up into a frenzy. Some of it is designed to attract attention/followers/votes/influence etc. And some if it is designed to distract people from the real issues at hand. Like the one Sucky posted, classic blame the brown people for taking over and their being no houses, hospitals appts, GPs, jobs for the English etc etc. When it's the establishment and the people they prop up who are responsible for hoarding wealth for themselves and not investing into the country.

Also like you say, social media is a cult of personality and you get absolute shysters like Trump, Musk, Andrew Tate etc portraying themselves as arbiters of morality when they are just self promoting **** knuckles.

I think we all know the contrext, not sure that really needed any explaining, well apart from to Sucky of course. As I said in my last comment, he needs to block that stuff...well unless he loves that sort of thing and moves to Cornwall in the future.

They won't let Sucky into Cornwall... peeps down there more into waxing their surfboards than their eyebrows and ballsacks ... <laugh>

This doesn't have anything to do with the post really

But you know what's weird, that's actually an AI generated image

It’s also unbelievably stupid as anti-semitism in common parlance refers to Jews whether ‘semites’ predominantly or not and has been one of the dumber go-to responses from people who have been comfortable airing their antisemitism openly for the last year.

Otherwise a good cartoon.

Edit- assumed this was the war thread. What you guys talking about?

The original version of that has the Jewish bloke saying 'You're anti-semitic' and the Arab guy saying 'But I'm Semitic too' and I think was an attempt to show that some of the criticisms of Israel were indeed just that, as the people criticising them were Semitic too.

I think it was also to demonstrate that Semitic people were anybody from the region and spoke Semitic languages, so Jews, Arabs, Assyrians etc and not exclusive to Israeli Jews.

I didn't understand it at all and tbph you'll get various interpretations of it. I reversed searched it and it seems to have evolved from an original joke or racist trope which ever category people wish to put it in, hence why I never post stuff like that. For me it's unneeded, it's unwanted and should just be lobbed in the bin, but that's probably because I don't see the joke nor subscribe to them.

Anyway, back to the thread topic, politics, baby dies in channel this morning after migrants ran into difficulties in the channel.

That makes more sense Pinkie

Okay, well, I showed the picture without the Twitter post it was contained in because I didn't want to muddy the waters with the whole Palestinian/Israeli sub-context, but I'll try to explain what I saw in it and why I think it resonates so completely nowadays.

I'll start by saying Oct 7th was abhorrent, and I rejoice in the death of the Hamas tunnel rat who was behind it. That seems to be a necessary prerequisite nowadays.

Now, to move on - anyone who criticises Israel and its relentless land grab in the area for the last 50 years is promptly shouted down as 'antisemitic', including Israeli citizens who protest against it. It is ironic in itself that Semitic people are being displaced by and large by Europeanean jews. European Jews whom it would be fascinating to do DNA tests on to see how much original Semitic DNA they actually have.

I do get what has been said in that the term antisemitic is the vocabulary for being anti-Jewish. But to conclude with the reality - the justification for all of this is that a sky God promised people of a certain religion - not race - the lands of the Middle East from the fabled 'River to the Sea'. I'm simply saying that contesting that is not antisemitic - it is simply being anti-Zionism.

I saw Louise Ellman on Newsnight on the anniversary of October 7th. I've met Ellman when she was a Liverpool MP - she's sound, and I backed her to the hilt when the Momentum mob was making her life a misery, and the likes of Luciana Berger too. But she was at it again that night labelling any criticism of what Israel has done since that infamy as antisemitic. Here is she, a white, European - who happens to be Jewish - criticising Palestinian spokespersons as antisemitic. By definition, she is more entitled, if she wishes, to live in a settlement on the West Bank than a semite whose ancestors have lived there for thousands of years - and if they complain against this Zionism they are 'antisemitic'. Am I the only one who sees a problem here? Perhaps I'm just one of those self-loathing (one-eighth) Jews. :emoticon-0138-think

Can’t be arsed reading all this bollocks but plenty of non-Jews live very happily in Israel from nations and races all over the world. Footballers, politicians, judges. The whole ‘ethnostate’ thing is bollocks unless loads of places are ethnostates including those that drove out their Jewish populations.
