"clearly". And you know that how?

After the collision on 12th Jan, he was out a few days following protocol, then back in training, then back to being in and out of the side from 10th Feb. Before January the competition for forward positions was limited. After the window we weren't so reliant on him, having brought in Carvahlo, Ohio, Omur, Zaroury, Sharp (yep, I know).

By his own admission he's had these issues for several years. In his own words the other day ....
"It was obvious I had a problem with alcohol for a good few years," he said. "It just became something I relied on.
"I just stopped working hard and you can't do that ...I became a tough person to be around. Nobody could tell me anything."
"My buzz used to come from football and scoring goals, but the buzz became more from going out drinking alcohol than going out on the football pitch.
"I used to look forward to the games finishing so I could go and socialise. That was an excuse to go and get drunk."

We were the 4th club to give him a further chance (Brighton themselves, then loans to Boro and Venezia). Rosenior isn't a psychologist, he's a football coach. Imo, Rosenior shouldn't have taken the risk until Connolly had tried something like he finally tried this summer - properly acknowledging his demons and doing rehab to try to address them. I've said all along that he's a talented player, but it was obvious from day one that he had big issues (and some warned us about them).

Good luck to the lad, hopefully he can sort himself out and now make the most of his talent (so long as it's not against us).
