Me and Mrs Tractor are looking to head to Madrid this December and I’d like to watch a match there if possible. Is anyone able to offer advice if they’ve done this before ie best way to buy tickets, travel from the centre etc. who is the most trustworthy agent to use.
 
Whereabouts are you staying?

Me and my marra went in 2016, we did a stadium tour which was excellent and went to a game vs Eibar. When we arrived and got sorted at the hotel we went straight to the ground to the ticket office and got sorted. Iirc, we paid 60Euro to sit in the lower bowl quite near the corner flag. The day an experience was canny but as a match day its very touristy. RM were 4-0 up inside 20 mins and there was just loads of clapping - **** that. Give me a scrappy Sunderland one nowt anyday.

That was in April, so probably more UK tourists about when we went rather than December like.

As for Madrid travel, use the Metro. Cheap and very well connected. My mate didn't trust it at first and insisted we get a taxi, the bastard 'got lost' and we got our eyes taken out for a simple fare. Metro every time after that, I should have insisted.

Cheers for this. Nothing booked yet. Just had a quote for a three night trip with flights, hotel and match tickets all in for just over £3000! I reckoned we can go for about half of that booking it all ourselves but wasn’t sure how available match tickets would be.

Madrid is a great city with loads to see and do, the metro is excellent and easy to get around.
I've been there a few times but never managed to get to see a game at the Bernabéu - yet!. My lad did the stadium tour and can recommend it especially if you can't get to a live game, it costs about £30.

Not many home games in December though:
Sunday 1st - Getafe
Sunday 22nd - Sevilla

I've been to games at Barcelona and Valencia and got tickets via the club web site / at the club ticket office.
I still get emails from Barca as they see me as a loyal fan <laugh>
Do it yourself flight, hotel and tickets will be a lot cheaper.

Cheers mate. Looks like it will be around the Seville match. Gonna give it a go and see if we can get in. I took her to Milan once and found out once we were there that it was derby weekend! Couldnt get tickets at that late stage.

If I can sort out getting into a Madrid game it’ll keep both of us happy
 
When you buy a ticket you will purchase a rechargable ticket so the initial outlay will be a couple of euros more 2.50, then you just top it up with the amount of journies you want.

For sight seeing there are lots and lots of museums, some contemporary. If you want cheap beer and tapas go to Montaditos, it's worth it.

I went to see Real v Seville in January 2019, it was cold windy and very wet. I was there for a conference and bunked off to do something more useful. I bought a ticket online directly from the club with no problem, their ticketing system is like ours so it was no problem to use and they have staff to help.
When i got there a staff member even showed me to my seat. I walked up about 10 steps and got to my seat on the third level, just behind the goal opposite the white shirted chanting crew. Its a brilliant stadium for watching the match and that was before the upgrade.

Aye that seems like they're completely taking the piss in all honesty. It depends on who they're playing as to the demand for tickets. We picked Eibar on purpose knowing there was a high chance of of getting sorted.

An update on this one. We go to Madrid tomorrow but can’t get hold of match tickets. They went on general sale on Tuesday morning but it was already sold out once I’d got through the online queue. They say it’s digital tickets only and nothing can be purchased through the ticket office. Has anyone tried any of the ticket selling websites before and if so which (if any) are reliable.

Got there and asked our driver if he knew how to get tickets. He got straight on the phone and got two tickets very near to each other. I took a chance and he came up trumps. Paid over the odds for tickets but it was well worth it.

fir anyone fancying it, Madrid is an amazing city and the stadium and tour are brilliant. Metro is definitely the way to get about. Thanks to those who came in to give me some sound advice

Also, sat next to a couple of spanish lads who were raving about Bellingham. I showed them Jobes winner from Saturday. They said they love the “Bellingham Brothers” and know that Jobe plays for a very famous club, Sunderland.
