When I started researching it, I realised that I had been. I went to Sveti Stefan in 1990 when it was all still Yugoslavia.
That's in what is now Montenegro, Charles and Di spent part of their honeymoon there. It became a extra luxury hotel but for some reason it's fallen into a state of disrepair. Possibly a question of ownership. Was nice, not any more.
Just ****ing driven to a ****ing campsite on the ****ing outskirts of ****ing Caernarfon for 5 ****ing hours with the Mrs, a 5 year old and an 8 year old who have been ****ing bickering for what feels like a ****ing eternity and it’s ****ing cold and ****ing pissing it down and I’m already praying for ****ing death to ****ing take me from it all. Really looking forward to my parents receiving this postcard.
Been to Disneys in Florida, LA & Paris. (Doing Tokyo next year too) Mainly took the kids (and planning to take Grandkids probably in 2027) but we’ve been on our own too and loved it. As has been said if you just allow yourself to be entertained without your (or mine anyway) normal cynical response it’s great. Back in the day when they ran all you can eat and drink BBQs on nighttime’s in Florida I also got really pissed and danced with Minnie Mouse too. (don’t think that was the mushrooms…)
Yes, it was a very high end hotel when I was there. So high end that I couldn't afford to stay in it.
To be fair not many could. But the first time I went there, before it got taken over by the hotel chain there were ordinary people living in some of the houses there. As I said I think the problems stem from disputes over ownership, I've heard of similar problems all over the former Yugoslavia.
Ah then maybe we have our wires crossed, I was/am referring to the Sveti Stefan on the coast of Montenegro which I believe is now closed.
Anyone been to Calabria Italy. Thinking of flying into Lamezia and touring around the area in early October
The one in Montenegro is the one with the exclusive hotel. I have just seen an article that says it was closed but has been renovated and was asking 750 euros a night in 2023. How has it gone in Ohrid? Would you recommend it? Tui do some very reonabl3e holidays to other parts of the lake
We loved it Tigger. The whole holiday was perfect for our family's needs and we've already booked the same thing for next year, but staying for longer!
Bollocks to your foreign sunny holidays I’m in the Dales, in the rain, and it’s great! Decent waterproofs and a good hike followed by ale in pubs with roaring log fires…perfect
Yep, and no queueing for hours at airports! We're just back from a long weekend at Loch Lomond, Magic!
Just done three nights is Lisbon, stayed in the Cais do Sodré/ Bairro Alto district. The place didn’t come to life until 10pm and when it did it did with a bang, it’s not somewhere I’d recommend for a romantic or relaxing getaway. It’s full on. I went with a group of lads I was in the Army with and loved every second but it is very seedy in places. I can imagine that for some it could be quite intimidating. In some areas you’ll get approached every ten metres and asked if you want any coke. Pink Street ( used to be the red light area, near the docks) at 2 in the morning was an experience, not for the faint hearted.
