Will Newcastle benefit from the APT case

My reading of it is that the PL have won as the tribunal agreed that the overall purpose of the APT was correct and only two areas were deemed unfair:

1) shareholder loans should now be included as an APT
2) decisions on APT fair values should be reached quicker

The ruling doesn’t help us at all. The APT rules will stay in place probably with those minor amendments.

Surely though we can just sift through all of the other 19 clubs sponsorships and just match them all up with others - Always see the Nivea adverts during the games - why do we not have a skin wash sponsor? As long as it's in line with the rest you can sponsor anything right?
E.g. Halfords for a our bike sponsor and just have Shola riding along eating an apple over the Millenium Bridge once a month can't argue with it right?

The Premier League us saving face there's no easy solution.

Any new rules have to be voted on .. only 12 voted for the existing ones... 2 refused to vote.

We already know at least 5 are fighting against them. The clubs that have been funnelling unterwst free loams in also now have a problem.

We just need our commercial team to get out and bring the sponsorship money in. No point sitting around waiting for inflated PIF deals like Official Newcastle United Burqa Sponsor.

They can't simply add a new rule... any new rule will have huge implications on the voting clubs and we already know at least 5 are fighting against it.

The credibility of the rules is in tatters on top of that. Just ignore the rules they can never be enforced which is why the PL loses every single court case.

The outcome will be determined by a vote though unfortunately and Turkey's are unlikely to vote for Xmas! Newcastle will get more leeway and so will all the others.

Cast your minds back to how public the revolting PL were about our case. Their entire aim in court was to keep the case private.

They have lost.

Anyone thinking otherwise is an Ostrich at this point.

There is going to be a legal challenge to the actions of the PL and the redacted club.

This is not a PL win. Their rules have been judged unlawful and anti competitive and they have been judged to have abused their dominant position.

Exactly and they aren't exactly going to come out saying sorry.

The clubs will vote and Newcastle need 7 votes! we know we have 5. I don't think the clubs that are surviving by funnelling interest loans into negate FFP are in a good position to vote themselves into trouble.

Whatever rules they invent have to be voted on and more importantly be legal.

This isn't going to be open season for Newcastle but I can literally guarantee they get more leeway and so will everyone else..... the landscape has changed on APT.

I’m not sure what all this means.

Can someone explain?

I feel like it won’t really have any impact on us?

So basically we don’t have to vet our sponsorship deals past the PL anymore? Is that it?

Or can we have massive deals now?

It means the rules need changing and will require a new vote... whatever rules they create.
