Chastening start for England in Pakistan.... hosts going along nicely 207/1... batting on a road..... expect it to come to life when England bat....
Someone please explain to me why Woakes is on this tour ? His overseas record is diabolical and his bowling so not suited to here. No warm up games before series started aswell, ridiculous scheduling, but not gonna change with so many games now.
They have barely stopped playing so warm up game irrelevant, but agree about Woakes. A wicket as I write
1 brings 2..... Still Pakistan in control but 2 new batsmen, so another couple and England back in the game....
328/4 at close..... Decent last session for England picking up 3 wickets..... Still Pakistan's day but England not out of this just yet.....
Playing in Pakistan a tad different to playing in English conditions not to mention the temperature and humidity differences. Warm up games do seem to be a thing of the past these days though with all the cricket that takes place. We've seen before though how detrimental to our performances not having them have been !
545 for 8 after tea day two. This will be a really interesting battle of technique and patience. Will England try to get runs quickly, are they capable of not getting out, are they going to try and win or play for the draw? Pakistan scoring at less than 4 an over, but I don’t know if that’s choice, caution, or if the pitch is just flat.
Good response from Crawley & Root to see England through to 96/1 at close after losing Pope in the 2nd over..... blinding catch apparently..... Still a long way behind Pakistan 556 all out, but pitch still not playing any tricks, so hopefully these 2 can get going again tomorrow.....
Australia still have not settled on a replacement for David Warner........... we may need to bring him back out of retirement just to play the Ashes. please log in to view this image
Congratulations Joe Root on becoming England's top Test run scorer of all time. Just another 3,500 to get past Sachin, now.
Didn’t realise he obviously passed Boycott. Fair play to him. Always thought he was not suited captaincy.
He passed Boycott a while ago. It's Alastair Cook he's gone past now and he's reached 5th in the World list after Tendulkar, Ponting, Kallis and Dravid. He should go past Dravid, Kallis and Ponting, but Tendulkar is a long way off. Remarkably, he's also ranked the fourth best current Test all-rounder!
