Looking back a few seasons, walking to the Sol was all doom and gloom no banter among fans. An abysmal performance was expected and usually followed. Now is a million miles away from those days. The club is on the up and we know it.
We've had some serious lows over the years and it's making me really appreciate the trajectory we are on now. Just brilliant.
Been 2 really low points over the last few years that stand out for me. One was when Jon Mcglaughlin had to retrieve the ball from the Roker End during a Papa John's game and the other was Aiden McGeady taking a corner in the South East corner when it was virtually under water. Both of these occasions were an absolute disgrace under previous the previous regime. Really glad to see that it's chalk and cheese throughout the club now. Off the field has improved massively with strips, club shop etc. , academy u21, u18 etc are back at it. Loads and loads to be positive about at the minute
For me it is nice to see the club has a proper plan and a management team who know what they are doing and most importantly want to connect with the fans . Supported the club for too many years to remember but thos is the first time i can see amanagement team that seems to know how we can get to the top . They have put a team (backroom) who can plan ahead and develope new talent to replace the existing . One day maybe we can say a lot of the England team were made in sunderland
Love the 'model' that we are implementing, for yrs I've been wanting us to be that club that young exciting players want to come too We will have bumps in the road (last season for example) but I really do believe this is the way we will be succesful in the long term I'm enjoying this season so far, still not getting carried away as there will be so many twists n turns to go but so proud of this team n club
What we want is (young/experienced) players wanting to come here to progress there careers not just wanting a big pay day . When we attract these players we know things are going right . The team is bought but the owners are what they are and at the minute they deserve praise
The display and atmosphere before ko was immense today like. The goosebumps as we sing wise men say just before ko is incredible
it still amazes me how many sit totally quiet, not one posting from them about how good it currently is yet as soon as the next transfer window is nearing the close they all appear together putting the club and regime down as one collective voice...then retire to quietness once they are proven wrong again. i am enjoying this at the minute but i am under no illusion that we are going to romp this league and storm the premier next season, there is a long long way to go and the squad are still learning what RTB needs out of them, the celebrations in the dressing room for riggy show the team spirit and, for me, that is the best thing about it all.
Was that a freezing cold night with about 12 fans there? Think I went, but had tried to block it out. Young lad played at right back, looked decent but was never seen again
**** off! Don't remind me. I'd take my lad to Wycombe away about 2 weeks earlier. Lost. Told him at the end of the game to look around him. "This is our lowest point. In years to come you will be able to look back and say you were there at our lowest ever point." Next match I took him to, midweek ****fest, about -90° against Gillingham in the cup. Don't think we had a single shot in the game. He said, "so is this our lowest ever point then?"
We've got the momentum and need to keep it up. We've also scored in every game so far. Remember we bought the goal machine Grigg and couldn't manage that. Trust the model
The building blocks many don’t see behind the scenes are preparing us for lift off when we get back to the premier league, the stadium, the surroundings, the infrastructure all part of a huge plan for us to be premier league ready when it happens. Lots of clubs scramble around during the summer after promotion to get in line with premier league standards, we already have it and more !
I am 67 and I now find myself waking up the morning after game thinking about how we beat the next game! The first picture in my head this morning was Roberts cutting in from the right and hitting the perfect shot into the top corner at Watford. it is almost as if I have gone back to being a teenager!
Mickey Gray doesn’t think the clubs current transfer strategy is the right one apparently. Now, I’ll be the first to say that I always liked him as a player. He was living the dream we all had. But I reckon that he is living in the past and football has moved on in certain respects. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...er-kyril-louis-dreyfus-transfer-model-4791532
Talks utter nonsense all the time, would love to see how he would run a club - just sign players he's heard of
