I thought I was showing my age by not knowing what Spanish was on about. Then again, his knowledge of homosexual culture is probably the best on our forum, so I took his word for it <laugh>

KMc has apparently accepted Muric's version of events and moved on.I suspect in private he read him the riot act, good man-management.

Even tho International players returning late, my team would be:

    Muric
    Tuanzebe, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis
    Morsy, Phillips
    Ogbene, Hutchinson, Szmodics
    Delap.

Burns, Chappers, Clarke coming on at 65.
If Tuanzebe is knackered, then Johnson starts. Hirst or Broadie if fit might come on for a cameo. By 80 mins, could be mostly L1 team!

If this is the off topic thread… what do people make of the new Champions League format? I feel as though this new format could finally be the undoing of our European home record.

Tbh Hampy, I am unclear of new rules & format. Perhaps someone can jot down a simple 5 point guide.

I am in Lisbon seeing my grand daughter and I could hear the city go wild with their Sporting win last night. Gomes hardly the angel! They speak highly of Gyokeres.

instead of a group stage of four teams, it’s a big league with everyone. You only play an away or a home leg against a team, which means there is no holding onto the points you won from the first leg or playing for a draw in the first away from home to win the second leg. You in theory could still have scenarios at the end where a draw will be enough but it’s much less likely you can get away with that than in a small group of four.

The scenario of being a big team in a weak group and sailing through is gone too.

The teams were seeded pre-draw into four different groups (top seeded eight clubs, second seeded eight clubs etc.). Each club will play eight games - two fixtures in each seeded bracket (two against two top seeded group, two against the second top seeded group etc.). Luck of the draw on who you play home or away in each seeded section. As Hampy says, rather than groups of four, all clubs are in one big league table.

If you’re just about following that, qualification gets even more complicated. The top eight clubs in the big league table qualify for the knock out round and get a bye to avoid the “play off” round. Clubs that finish ninth to 16th in the big league table will play against clubs that finish 17th to 24th in the big league table - with the club finishing ninth to 16th benefitting from a second leg home draw. The remaining eight clubs get eliminated and don’t get to play in the Europa League/another UEFA competition.

The winning eight teams from that play off round then get drawn against a club that finished 1st to 8th in the league. The club that finishes 1st to 8th benefit from a home draw in the second leg.

I agree that if we qualify for Europe, it’s going to be a challenge retaining that unbeaten home record - which is a nice stat. We’ll probably be in the lowest seeded group, so we’ll have at least a couple of games against tough opposition.

Looks like a major commitment for club resources, players, energy, squad depth, I think I would be happy to see Town make the top 10 each season!

Hilarious finish at Sunderland! Gotta feel for Leeds goalie, tho in a short clip I notice that none of his team mates went back to console him.

How different when Greaves gifted that howler.

We are a very different club to Leeds!

Meanwhile, Lee Carsley proving, if proof were needed, that Southgate did a sterling job.
