Really Rooch, they've already caved into the Train Drivers...watch this space, the money they're taking off the pensioners is going into the train drivers back pockets...It'll have zilch effect on the £20 Billion black hole they're hanging their policies on.
Dont know if it is true, but somebody told me to day they are saving £2bn but the cost of those applying for pension credit as a result will exceed £3bn. Seems unlikely to me, but I presume will have to now apply for it. Whatever the real costs / savings it is just really poor optics. They can talk about tough choices, that is govt, this seems like an easy target for them to me.

They didn’t seem to think it was bad enough to cut there own heating allowances.

Don’t know what I am more disgusted with, the Labour Party penalising working class pensioners for their first policy of tackling the country’s economic problems,or the total lack of courage, principles and decency to stand up to Starmer from all the north east MP’s who hid behind the “abstain” vote, fcuking pathetic weak b******* ,I’ll remember this vote the next time they come knocking on my door :headbang:

I find the abstain pathetic too. You are elected to represent your community. You either agree with the policy or you dont. The problem seems to be fear of losing the whip, as was seen with the 7 who voted against the govt recently. Now the tories were guilty of the same scare tactics, but surely there is a sense of morals needed somewhere in politics. Removing the whip seems a petty minded tactic to me. Control and command.

The two from Sunderland who voted for the cuts have been named on Facebook, good luck to them next time they show their faces In the town.

Dear me, that's shocking behaviour... will they be sharpening their pitchforks and demonstrating outside the MPs homes?

Train drivers increase is 14% over 3 years.

State pension increase is 20.8% over 3 years.

The tories are out in force on this thread today, lots of blue angst on display <cheers>
You are better than that mate. Are you ok with the 1st 2 months of Labour. Are you supportive of the removal of the winter fuel allowance which was introduced by Gordon Brown? I dont see Tory glee here, I see angst at another govt failing our vulnerable communities.
