Just been reading the BBC sports pages. How can bruce get the sack and Keen still hold the Blackburn post. Bruce is a good manager IMO. Just goes to show some times rich owners aren't always the best thing to happen to a club. I mean if we had a chicken farmer who took a liking to roder and despite all the bad results, because he was a 'nice guy' where would we be now!! Not convinced a Billionare would be great for Norwich. Lets keep going the way we are and try to be a club that can hold its own in the leauge and with the bank. Billionaires really care about the club. They are just toys to them!!
We have a billionaire owner, and are thankful for that... But now we are at a vital stage, where he shows what he really wants for the club... I agree in principal what the op is saying. But for some unknown reason iv'e adopted Norwich as my 2nd team this year, and have been joined by a few lads who support a variety of clubs... But, we want it, and we want it now, if we can get it, to much ****e for to long.. Mind as an outside bet, i wouldn't have minded P Lambert as a manager.
Ha just watching prem league news...PL full of confidence for the weekend as usual...Sure he'll do a great job for your lot... But eventually, the inevitable will happen, if he suceeds...
sorry, but steve bruce is just one in a long line of distinctly average managers which float around the english game from club to club, doing an equally average job wherever they go. steve bruce, steve cotterill, gary megson, iain dowie, aidy boothroyd, our 'man of the moment' paul jewell to name but a few... its people like paul tisdale, gus poyet and malky mackay who deserve a chance to impress at bigger clubs having worked their way up the leagues, not 'bang average' steve bruce.
Maybe your right, but it's not easy to make that break through... Prem manager jobs, are like rocking horse ****, and if your lucky to get one...it's hard to hold onto it...Look at the Mags or Chelea... But P Lambert looks to have a bright future.
well no offence to sunderland, but i think we all know that lambert will be going to a bigger club than sunderland when the time finally comes. the guy is a genius. agree it is difficult to get the breakthrough for young managers - if you look, most of them only get the chance because they guide a team to promotion. i think a few more clubs should look down a league to appoint rather than go for the usual suspects all the time. i mean mark hughes will probably get the sunderland job, and despite being a solid manager, is he really going to rip up any trees? would he do any better than bruce did? if he takes charge you can pretty much guarantee sunderland will finish the next three seasons in mid table. stable yes, adventurous, no. depends what sunderland's ambitions are i suppose.
A lot of valid points mate... We'll see about Hughes, but it's looking a straight race between him and Martin O Neill.
well of course martin o'neill is an ex-norwich manager so we know all about him. personally really rate the guy. i think he'd have got us promoted had it not been for walking out because of a dispute with our then chairman. in the end he took leicester up that season and kept them there, taking them to two league cup wins. that could conceivably have been us! having said that, walking out does seem to be something in his repertoire. being a sunderland fan i suppose thats less likely if he were to manage the club he supports
You could be right about Lambert, I thought he done a good job at Wycombe as well and your club were far from my mind in thinking about teams going down this year due to him however you can never say he is a genius until he gets to the top and proves he can cope with handling alot of money and massive amounts of pressure. It could be a case that he's a good man manager and motivator getting the best out of "less talented individuals" but if he gets a job at Man Utd in the future he might not be able to sign the right players or control bigger ego's so to speak. It does look bright for him but not nailed on just yet that he'll be the messiah.
sorry adz, but i meant in terms of norwich he is a genius. anyone that can take our team of no-hopers from bottom of league one to 10th in the premier league in two years deserves the title 'genius'. its irrelevant whether he goes on to bigger and better things - he's already proven himself. i know people who don't think sir alex ferguson is a genius! they are liverpool fans though its true his style may not transpose into management at a different club but its all about context and in the context of norwich and its history, paul lambert is a genius and shall always be deemed that by me and many others.
Can't argue with that with regards to Norwich yeah. Done a cracking job since day 1 and for getting Brian Gunn out of the managers hot seat in the first place.
.....agree that his style may not be suitable for mega rich teams. he is more comfortable nurturing players from lower levels than spending big on superstars. this said, the arsenal job may be open in the summer and his style is more akin to wengers than any employed by chelsea.
