Nobody has ever argued that, to the best of my knowledge,... and as long as you will also be including any incidents of that nature at the hands of the IDF in Gaza we are in total agreement - but I fail to see what that has to do with the illegal occupation of and illegal settlements in, the West Bank? - am I missing something?

You said nothing is avoidable. October 7th was very much avoidable. There was relative peace on October 6th. Israel was progressing with Saudi and others in a way that was once unthinkable which Iran and their gophers couldn’t accept.
I can accept Hamas trying to kick off. They’re vermin and it’ll happen. I can’t accept privileged Westerners trying to rationalise and often support it.
you are right, they aren't killing everyone but they have messed up the place. I don't see why Mossad couldn't be taking out these hamas operatives slowly rather than just bombing the **** out of the place though.
It’s impossible or at least would take years and years. Hamas are in every neighbourhood, a ‘doctor’ was housing a hostage in a densely-populated area. That doesn’t happen by chance and all the wet wipes burst into tears when Israel recovers them anyway. They want a fight and they’re getting one. Any country is doing the same in these circumstances.

Very much this - they have the capability sophistication and pinpoint accuracy to take out the (presumably) heavily guarded leadership of Hamas and Hezbollah on (hostile) foreign soil yet, in Gaza, they have needed to turn the whole strip into a 'Ground zero' in order to combat an opponent with little or no heavy weaponry ...

How incandescent with rage would you be if half of Glastonbury got murdered, kidnapped and raped and the UK was held to an infinitely higher standard than any other country in the world in stopping it happening again?
I'd want the perpetrators brought to justice and any hostages rescued - but I would not be able to justify the killing of 2.3 million women and kids in response - not in any way, shape or form - that's the proportionality of what has happened in Gaza ... food for thought
Very easy to say when it’s not a situation you’ll ever be put in but I’m sure you’ll appreciate the restraint Israel has shown when they should have really just razed the place to the ground on day one.
No mate - no way I could ever support that level of collateral damage whatever the circumstances ... yes I'd want to confront anyone that had hurt my family - but I wouldn't want dead women and kids included in any retribution...

Not really vaguely comparable, Bob. If the Syrian government blew up a concert in Manchester, raped a few survivors and kidnapped as many corpses and live hostages as they could back to Syria I don’t think we’d be overly worried about the response being a bit heavy for our liking.

The Balfour declaration and the whole concept of Zionism was a completely warped attempt to try and instil some bizarre Biblical notion that a certain set of people should have the right to set up camp in somebody else's land. I think it took the British govt until 2017 to recognise that the declaration should have called for the protection of the Palestinian Arabs' political rights.
