Howe will continue to push his luck with the same back line.

Having said that this away form situation really is a conundrum.

    I'll go with 1-1

Of course he won't - Schar's back! However, our LB travails continue. Hall's got a lot of ability, but positionally.....holy ****. Kelly > Burn, the latter had a shocker today. Tonali should start too, and Howe clearly has worked out that Gordon/Isak/Barnes have to start. Doesn't make me a Barnes fan, the ****er was anonymous for so long today (again). But him vs Almiron or Murphy? Well, someone paid £40m for Barnes and nobody will pay more than £10m for either of the others.

Left back wasn’t the issue it was the keeper and the cbs.

    Kelly was solid

Krafth was ok. Today it was just Burn, but he’ll be back to being good next game

The 2 cbs and the keeper are a recipe for disaster

Not at all as he will start but Krafth/Burn have done well as a makeshift pairing

Why don’t you want Schar to start?

I do mate. He can play a bit ... ideally we need 2 cbs but I can wait another year no bother.

I don't understand why so many Newcastle fans are so impatient and why they lack the vision to look beyond this season.

Summer next season is when nufc start to kick on again... other clubs will be skint to further boost nufcs charge.

Agreed. I honestly think this will be the best start to the season we have ever had.

He doesn’t really have a choice. He could play Hall and Trippier is either unfit or out of favour. But it says a lot that Trips didn’t get on th pitch today.

They both played very well in my honest opinion. Given they are both full backs.

Not sure that switch works as well. Gordon is more versatile whereas Barnes has his preferred style of cutting inside to shoot.

I think the point of this is it finally adds a bit of unpredictability. If we can get Tonali in for Longstaff and Schar, Willock, Wilson and Botman back in we should be good.

(sorry obviously not all for this game).

    Schar in definitely

Willock definitely gives us some much needed pace through midfield

Saw something suggesting Botman likely back early October rather than Nov/Dec
