I don't think he wanted to leave at all. It was more, if the club want him out then the only place he would go is back home.

When asked by the echo reporter if he was leaving his response was "it is up to him" and nods towards Martin.

His girlfriend has also posted a leaving post on Instagram with a crying face. Seems stupid but you aren't doing that if you it is your decision to leave.

It appears to me the club need money to reinvest and he is the most valuable asset that wont be playing regularly, so is essentially being forced out.

Whether that is the right call, only time will tell.
That’s interesting. Shame we couldn’t shift some of the others really. But this one probably gives us the most profit from a PSR than the others apart from maybe ABK. We will struggle to get an accounting profit on Onuachu and Sulemana which is probably up there among the reasons the latter is still here (injury and lack of interest as well)

I can't post this on the Saint Justin! Page thanks Tom. Apparently people in Holland are saying the Bijlow medical was failed as a negotiation bargaining chip re the.Kotchup transfer

Although possible I'd be very surprised by this. I know a lady that is involved in such medicals (across the South, not just Saints) and she is extremely professional and I think she would be offended if asked to somehow fudge things to the favour of the buying club in this regard. She is big on patient confidentiality as well (rightly so) and so I can never get any kind of info out of her!

Perhaps we made the medical boundaries for success in his case stricter? Could also be an insurance issue?

How does this play out? Can’t get my head around it ? Has ABK even been linked with Feyenoord? Is the logic that we return to the deal if they sign him from us?

As I understand it there's not really such a thing as "failing" a medical. The medical team do various tests and report to the club who then decide what to do with that information. I saw a great interview a couple of years ago with Gary Lewin (the ex Arsenal physio) where he said a medical is more of a risk assessment. He then talked about Arsenal signing Marc Overmars, how they picked up early signs of degeneration in his knee and how that played a part in the decision to sell him to Barcelona a few years later.

My guess is that ABK's appearance this evening was to help generate interest in him. And if we were to sell him and use the money to help us acquire a decent winger (or get JWP back), then I'd be totally onboard with that. We could really, really do with upgrading Edozie, so that we can send him out on loan.

However, if ABK was to still be here come the weekend, then I would absolutely be looking to reintegrate him into the first team. Or at least until he next does his shoulder again.

At his best, he's arguably our best CB.

He was really good tonight.

Yes, it's very interesting he's played. I wasn't expecting to see him in the squad at all. Based on how he's been dealt with since Martin's arrival I'd vaguely got the impression he's a complete wrong un and just needed to be kept away from the squad, almost at all costs. Tonight suggests that may not be the case.

So IF we finalise the Ramsdale deal. Hopefully that opens the door for something like Cornet on loan. Wonder how many forward options we’re still looking for. Brazilian striker on loan and a PL loan for a winger and that’s the window?

What would be a realistic ideal end to the window? And does some of the performances tonight change any opinions?

We only have one definitive link to a central striker but that doesn’t mean that much given how most of our business has occurred this summer

We’ve also been linked to both left and right wingers which seems strange. I wonder if both might be on the cards but contingent on departures? And whether the permanent signing of a goalkeeper and opening of another premier league loan slot changes things?

LW :

Kostic (apparently doesn’t want to come. Juve want obligation on the loan)

Cornet - now an option on loan and wouldn’t have been if Ramsdale had been a loan

Fraser - still a chance he sorts something out with Newcastle. Now probably the most underwhelming of the options

RW:

Fellows - apparently we actually bid. So presumably no smoke without fire. Rising price and competition form Ipswich might make this tough especially with substantial funds now committed to Ramsdale

Doak - early loan rumour that would now be an option for the PL loan slot. But as a very young inexperienced winger would seem too similar to SAA

Brooks - no actual rumours but his mate looks to be joining

I guess the only recent form RW link is Fellows and the rest were all left? It’s just odd to be linked to both

Unless buying clubs need some reassurance that he can still play? Especially given some of our injured players go missing for ages and we don’t say anything about why they are out longer than you’d reasonably expect - Stewart / Larios

I assume one winger but as I’ve just posted - I find it confusing that we are linked with players from either side. And mainly the side with more natural options
