Maybe you're thinking of his dad, Enrico, played for nearly every Italian team. Now he is 53.
I have my concerns (I read the wages were @ £65k pw - now it turns out they're £100k pw), but Chiesa is a physical and skillful presence. I like Carv, but he can be a bit lightweight at times. I appreciate he was decent at Hull on loan, but that's the Championship. I think he'll do well at Fulham, a bit like Wilson did, but he's never a Top 6 player IMO. Chiesa, if he can stay fit, is. But I'm not expecting the Chiesa of 2021 - then he was truly world-class (and we'd have probably never afforded the £100m+ transfer and £300k wages he would have been worth at that moment).
Can't find what Fabio is making at Brentford- he was £52kpw before he left... £100kpw is of course about double that (about £2.6 mill extra in wages a year). It's still quite a low amount compared to many Premier league players, and players on our squad. And certainly would take a long time to eat up the savings we made selling Fabio and buying Chiesa.
so when did we do it .We only didn't do it because of COVID. The optimal point for maximum financial benefit for the likes of Mane, Bobby, Salah, Hendo, etc came during the pandemic and clubs clearly had less money to spend during that time.
sounds like utter bollocks to meSeen rumours of Arsenal being interested in Nunez and we're prepared to sell too

Well, most of us have been on here for 12 years or so and none of us has improved that much.Oh he'd be gone if I had my way.
This is year 3 and bar the crowd loyally chanting his name what has improved?
His ability to get onside?
His finishing?
His English?
Indeed - the low fee is making up that £34k pw wages we've heard quoted. Sure I read somewhere that getting Matip and Thiago (especially) is freeing up £350k pw from the wage bill? Don't know how much of that was set aside for Zubi (£150k pw is one figure I heard quoted that he wants RS to now match), but we still have enormous wiggle room in terms of FFP anyway. Not that FFP seems to be a thing anymore anyway, so that's FSGs Get Out Of Jail Free card gone.
Carvalho on £52k per week sounds pretty unlikely to me made even more unlikely as that would make him one of Brentfords top earners even without a rise .Can't find what Fabio is making at Brentford- he was £52kpw before he left... £100kpw is of course about double that (about £2.6 mill extra in wages a year). Just because a player doesn't make the first 11 doesn't necessarily mean he's not wanted. When Jota inevitably picks up another injury we might need him. I for one, would like to see what he can do under a different coach. His best patch for us was when Klopp experimented with him putting him out wide... he did well there... and then Klopp put him back in the centre and he did less-well again. I think we just use him wrong.
Slot obviously doesn't want him, and he's too expensive to put on the bench, so I'd rather sell him and get a replacement in that fits Slot's vision. But not because I think Darwin doesn't have merit. I still believe, at the right club, Darwin will be a goal scoring beast... just not at our club.

First rule of transfers - don't strengthen your rivals.I’d hope Nunez gets another shot but if manager doesn’t fancy him then best to move on. Def wouldn’t want to be selling to a prem club though on the off chance he finds his form.
Wouldn't get rid this year just because of injury doubts over Jota and chiesa settling in. Only then 1 injury from being short up top again and having to move people around.
But next summer if Salah goes for free and we get a decent offer for Nunez then can see the club taking it and using that to reinvest in a proper right sided forward for the next 5/6 years.
