So fellow canaries, one month remaining untill the transfer window becomes wide open again and lambert will do his usuall wheeling and dealing to get us a snip of a bargain.

With lambert already saying plans are well underway for who he will be trying to recruit, My question to you guys is, if you were lambert what would you do with the squad we have with ins and outs transfers and squad selection?? Would you try and loan out others to get more game time? Would you bring in more defence/midfield/attack options or are you happy with what weve got?

This is what i would do if i was himself...

1.Unfortunetly due to his forgoing problem of his knee injury i think wardy may have to be excused from the 25 for the 2nd part of the season and will have to get in an suitable replacement. There are some top defenders in the championship who could come in and may well force themselves into the first XI.

Problem with my 1st choice is that lambert has already has stated that he wont be looking in that area of the pitch for reinforcements, we shall see if he sticks by that!

2.I would like to see simeon loaned out to a championship club to get some games under his belt for the rest of the season, he needs it and maybe chrissy could extend his loan with palace so come the end of the season they maybe able to attract some interest for permanent move cos to be honest i dont think they are cut out for it at this level but hey i may be proved wrong. My thinking behind this is to make way for a move on.

    3. Nicky Maynard, very good centre forward. Quick, strong and a very good finisher. Contract up at the end of the season if not mistaken and could get him at a good price. Maybe even chucking in one of the above to sweeten the deal!

    4. Try and tie up kyle on a permanent if at all possible??

    5. Another winger just to sure up the options for this area of the field were pilks or bennett to get crocked at any stage! I would like to see someone like sean scannell brought in as i believe hes got all the attributes that lambert desires in a player.

    6. To bring in players you have to also cut the numbers, maybe it is time for the likes of lappin, wilbraham and maybe even drury etc to move on?

    Summary

Ins:- Nicky Maynard, Matthew Bates/Luke chambers, Sean Scanell

Outs:- Simeon Jackson(loan) Chris Martin(loan) Aaron wilbraham, simon lappin...

    What would you do??

Speaking of an alternative to Bennett/Pilks for the wings...check out this Zaha doing a job on United. Not seen much of him before tonight to be fair so will do a bit of research but looks a decent player and was marked out as the danger man before the game.

Maynard would be a class buy...still gutted we didn't pursue CMS.

I'd try and buy another defender or give Ayala some playing time and send De Laet packing and get McEachran in on loan (perhaps wishful thinking).

on the forward front i fully expect lambert to make a move for coventry striker lukas jutkiewicz - just the sort of player he likes - but was thinking the other day that maybe gary hooper from celtic would be a decent move. for a cheaper option, and maintaining the celtic connection, scott mcdonald from middlesbrough could give us a slightly different option. not prolific but a good player none the less and at 28 the sort of age lambert will think could see as his last chance to play in the premier league. lambert has already stated that he won't sign any defenders - he could be bluffing but we forget that he also signed ayala in the summer and he'll be back very soon.

Gary hooper is a very good shout but i expect he would be well out of reach money wise as i think i remeber seeing that they wanted £7mil in the summer when wolves were after him! I dont think the geeza from coventry would be up to it tbh and mcdonald has stuggled for a long time in the championship for boro so i wouldnt risk my funds on him. Wifried zaha is a qaulity player but the amount quoted for him is in the region of £5mil with the likes of spurs and liverpool after him.

    Maybe another bid for Snoddy?

I quite like McGugan at Forest still and they are struggling this season but would rather have McEachran on loan 'til the summer.

you've got to think of the type of player lambert will look for and zaha is definitely well out of our reach. he also has absolutely no end product. disagree about mcdonald - if you are talking about his goal record then yes he hasn't set the world alight but he is playing in a pretty negative team. his all round game is very solid and he's a good finisher. i think he could do a job. wouldn't break the bank, maybe get him for less than £2m.

snodgrass? we were quoted £8m in the summer! nowhere near worth that. mcgugan, as have forest, has been really out of sorts this year.

I don't want to see simeon loaned out, if he can get one goal who knows what might happen? Wilbraham leaving is unfortunately almost certain in my opinion, another winger and if we can get a decent striker would be brilliant.

    True Snoddy was ridiculously overpriced.

Speaking of Maynard when I watched Brizzle the other week they had another impressive player - winger too I think, can't for the life of me remember his name properly, Adomeo or something lol

A centre-back (if Ward gets fit, then not needed as he is good enough for the 1st XI)

A right-winger (in case Bennett is injured seriously)

A striker (Owen yes please...or a proven goalscorer - reason being having nightmares should injury befall Holt or Morrison, Jackson and a crooked Vaughn aren't adequate replacements)

albert adomah, i remember he played well and scored in the game against us at CR last year. Pretty nippy.

maybe a double-deal of him and Maynard (dreaming)

not so sure it is a dream max. they are precisely the sort of players lambert will want on board. maynard would be the sort of capture many lower end premier league clubs will want to make in january and we would probably be in the mix

i meant getting both of them Supers. i agree we should aim at them for sure - maynard will probably cost more than Steve Morrison, but Morro came from the championship too.

tell you what though, it's going to be very exciting to watch (the transfer window) assuming our league position is still above the drop zone

i reckon we could make a joint bid! they seem to work well together so there would be incentive for them to come as a pair. not sure about maynard's contract situation but i'm pretty sure leicester failed in the summer with a £5m bid. i don't think he's worth anywhere near that amount but wouldn't be at all surprised to hear we have to bid a similar amount to get him in january. adomah must be worth £1.5–£2m. its a lot of money for two championship players but at least they are top notch championship players. if i remember correctly peter grant tried to sign adomah from barnet once upon a time!
