very comfortable win against a team who will be lucky to survive if this is as good as they are they have been absolute dreadful but you can only beat whats Infront of you. great to get off and running its what we needed now lets bag some more players get some confidence back amongst us and get rolling again.

maybe we just made them look bad

nah you’re probably right

Great result, just what we needed to instill some confidence in our threadbare squad. Some good performances too, but I wish that Joseph had got the goal he deserved for the way he played tonight. Maybe Sheffield Wednesday are ****, it's too early to say, but I feel much more positive, especially if we can get some decent signings in before the window closes. MOT

I don't think they were that bad. We were just absolutely on it. We didn't give them a sniff. Lesser teams wont be able to deal with that press. Their long throws are a danger, Bannan 's delivery and that LW is tricky.

Any argument is over now, Joseph is 9 and Aaronsson 10. The front 4, as has been said, were very good but mentions for Ampadu and Gruev, they were magnificent. I thought Bogle was very good and Rodon had a much better game

Farke has his tactics spot on.

James is hugging the touchline, stretching the game. That's giving Aaronson, Gnonto the room to operate more central with Firpo giving us the width on the left touchline. Then we have Joseph spinning in behind AND coming short allowing the others to run in behind.

It's working really well.

At the back, we are coping OK but we are allowing too many crosses. Meslier does not inspire confidence in his defence (or me tbh).
It’s quite evident in the first few minutes of the game tonight Struijk preferred to kick into touch rather than trust the French nightmare come and collect !!!!

Meslier - 6. Clean sheet but very flappy in the first half. Defenders didn't look too confident in him at times.

Bogle - 6. Slow start and deservedly booked early. Had to manage Sheffields best player on the night but warmed to the task admirably.

Rodon - 7. Not yet the dominant force we grew used to seeing last season but still didn't put a foot wrong.

Struijk - 9. A major factor in tonight's success, dictated alot of what we did as a team. Was a magnet for the ball inside our own area. Was unlucky not to score in the first half.

Firpo - 7. Not at his best but certainly seen alot worse. Played more of a wide man in possession and put a couple of good crosses in.

Ampadu - 8. Double pivot with Gruev. Showed a good range of passing both long and short. Much quicker to move the ball tonight.

Gruev - 8. Perfect tandem with Ampadu and thrived with the extra movement in front of him. Can find his way out of tight situations really well.

Aaronson - 8. Brilliant attitude. Great feet and finish for the first goal. Didn't always work out for him but worked in those pockets of space really cleverly. More of this please.

Gnonto - 9. Played inverted left wing but thrived in a forward central 10 role with Aaronson. He could easily be the answer to the Rutter position. Man of the Match.

James - 9. Wide right. Key role in the opener, scored the second, put one on Struijks head, made the keeper work. Top player at this level.

Joseph - 9. Good hold up play, good movement, pace, workrate. Only thing missing is the goal but 3 shots and 2 on target will do for me. Once he gets the first I think he'll go on and get alot. The Pablo-esque pass for Dan James should be noted too.

Subs.

Rothwell - n/a. Fresh legs needed and that's what he gave us.

Byram - n/a. Late sub.

Piroe - n/a. Kept us ticking over until the final whistle.

Gelhardt - n/a. Late sub.

Farke - 9. Tactically spot on. Found a way to get Aaronson and Gnonto to play as a joint 10 without conceding width. Also still comfortable at the back. This performance was built on the clean sheet at West Brom where he set up to not lose.
