Saturday 24th August 3pm
Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Too early for injury news, but Bentancur will be absent due to the concussion protocol.
Ashley Young is suspended for the visitors.

Lineups for each side's last league game:

Spurs: Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son.
Subs: Austin, Spence, Dragusin, Davies, Gray, Bergvall, Kulusevski, Werner, Richarlison.

Everton: Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Iroegbunam, Gueye; Harrison, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin.
Subs: Virginia, Holgate, O'Brien, Metcalfe, Armstrong, Ndiaye, Lindstrom, Beto, Maupay.

Ref: Anthony ****ing Taylor. VAR: Andy Madley.

TV: Not televised in the UK.

How would you like to line up for this one and how do you think we actually will line up?

Let’s have at it.

Vic
Porro Romero VdV Udogie
Bergvall Gray Maddison
Odobert Solanke Son

Madders a little fortunate to start but he did have a great first half. I’m excited about Odobert and having the option to bring in Johnson and Richy fresh in the second half, who both did quite well against Everton last season, is fun.

Sounds like Tarkowski might be a doubt for them, picked up a minor muscle injury. He's by far their best CB, very solid CB in general, feel like he could've had a better career clubs wise.

As for us, Kulu has to start, as he should've done on Monday night. Interesting debate for DM though, does Bissouma come back in or does Ange make him wait a bit longer and therefore risk throwing Gray in? The latter's got huge potential but just like Bergvall the other night, their youth has shown at times with flakey decision making when in possession that in the Prem can be severely punished. I think their first starts should come in Europa unless we have to throw them in earlier, so with that in mind I'd go with Bissouma and make him aware he really is in last chance saloon at the club.

I'd go with:

Vicario
Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie
Kulu, Bissouma, Maddison
Odobert, Solanke, Son

Completely escaped me that Branthwaite is also still out, I’ve predicted him to be England’s best CB within a few years.

Solanke hat trick and a Sonny brace is gonna hit like crack now.

RCL - yes I’m fully aware <laugh>

In Bergvalls case that was one minor error in 30 minutes of an otherwise very impressive PL debut. Not really sure, mate that is sufficient to justify him not starting tomorrow.
It's not as if the competition around him are known for their perfection!! <laugh>

Per Ali G:

Postecoglou on Bissouma: "Biss is available but we've got some options there. The whole idea of trying to bulk up the squad is for these situations. He's available for selection. The bridge building continues."

Sounds like an Archie Gray start to me. No Solanke or Bents. Annoying for Lankshear that he’s out for a couple of weeks as he could have been in line for gametime this weekend.

Minor's probably a bit generous as it did almost lead to a goal and caused Vicario to go to mental (bit OTT but I understood his reaction) but I just don't want to rush them into the XI and for that to happen where it actually does lead to something, it'll just give the anti-youth section of our fanbase reason to moan at them and declare why we should've signed more senior players.

Just for now, as is the case with Moore, I'd like these three getting on the pitch for 20-30 mins a game for the few months with ideally a start in Europa here and there. Then as the season goes on, Bergvall and Gray especially to potentially secure regular starts with Moore also getting one or two.

Right now, I think Maddison, Bentancur and Bissouma are all better than the two young mids, arguments that they could start ahead of Sarr but I think if we started those two right no we'd technically be fielding a weaker player at the moment. In 4-5 months time that could easily change though.

Vic is the last one who should be over-reacting to another's mistake. <doh><laugh>

But seriously, I just want those young lads to get regular 30+ minutes. There are (different) question marks over all the 'first choice' MF's and they need to prove themselves ASAP unless the youngsters will be taking over the places on a permanent basis.

The main thing with blooding the youngsters is, in the league at least, it makes the most sense to do so in home games until the muscle memory is there

Yeah they need minutes in the league as well as Europa, Be brave and bring them on when Spurs need a goal or are one goal ahead, that’s when character is revealed.

Imagine 1-1 against Arsenal and Mikey Moore comes on and scores the winner, would be absolute scenes

Hopefully Maddison is injured next and maybe son... not sure there's a any other half decent players in the squad.
