What really pisses me off about saturday's game is the ticket allocation....We have only been allocated 1000 tickets (or should I say 'vouchers') and you have to exchange the voucher somewhere up the M1 in some service station to actually get the ticket! So for 'normal' fans like me and the missus - we just can't be arsed....not really fair is it? I've followed the Wall all of my (long) life - I've never been involved in any 'bovver' and just want to follow my team - it's less ****ing hassel getting into Iraq!
Fair point Tommy. Unfortunately, for every 1 friendly banter-loving 'Wall fan like you, there are too many who aren't. Pity really, as I hear that you & YNBK et al enjoy a civilised pint or two from time to time. I think the £1,000 "vouchers" probably arose from your own club as they wanted to do for you what Leeds management do for us; i.e. have some control over who is travelling in the name of the club. I know fans will swap tickets if they can't suddenly go, but last night's game was a case in point for us. Our fans not only had to have the right I/D, they also had to have the relevant & related ticket. Forest would not have allowed our fans in if they couldn't match the ticket to the I/D to some other form of I/D if required. I know Deptford can be rough, but I wouldn't quite compare it to Iraq. I even survived a Saturday afternoon in the Hobgoblin recently, although I wasn't wearing my Leeds shirt at the time. Anyway, let's hope its a good game, neither set of fans kick off, & we all pay suitable respect to Gary Spped's memory.... oh & Leeds hammer you 1-0 in the final minute!!
Tommy totally agree with you mate. its a joke to be fair but its a request of the police! Peterborough made me laguh we drove all the way to peterborough unescorted and 3 miles before ground stopped at a service station so that the police could escort us in! WTF total waste of ****ing money
Leeds United have announced details how they plan to pay tribute to Gary Speed at Elland Road against Millwall on Saturday. Both teams will wear black armbands with the Whites players and management wearing black armbands embossed with ‘Speed 11’ A minute’s applause will also be held ahead of the game after which both Simon Grayson and Millwall manager Kenny Jackett will lay wreaths. A video montage featuring remembering Gary Speed will be played on the big screen. Fans will also pay tribute with a special banner to Gary with the words ‘Go on Gary Speed, get one yourself son’ a reference to the famous commentary which accompanied his famous goal against Sheffield United in April 1990.
You need to be escorted into Peterborough YNBK. If you stopped too long, someone would only want to try & clean your windows or nick your hubcaps. Seems to me they did you a favour. When can we play Norwich again? Nice ground & some really good pubs away from Carrow Road. So much better than Peterborough, even if we are somewhat more restricted on the song choices as Carrow Road. As far as I am aware, Norwich Manager is a decent bloke, as is his dad!!
Its a terrible stadium. Of more concern was the attitude of the steeward who wouldn't let anyone out through the big exit between those standing & those who were supposed to be sitting. End result, a mass scrum with x 00 fans all going down some poorly lit staircase significantly smaller than it should have been. Just as well there was no rush & no one was pushing too much.
Afternoon Knobbo. I must ask if anyone feels the same as me on this one... Definitely as a legend as a player, manager and by all accounts, a man, he should have some level of recognition throughout football to commemorate his untimely passing. But, is one week of fixtures with applause, silence, and wreaths not enough? Is it going on for another week as you haven't had the opportunity to pay your respects at home yet or is this going to be the theme of the weekend for all English football league clubs? And Elland, your rite man, weres dat policman, innit?
I reckon we will start with the same team against forest although i dont agree with that. We will play out a 0-0 first half with McCormack coming on to give the game a spark and get a goal. Then Snoddy will score late on to secure the points.
