Travis would be an excellent signing. Top top ball winner, shown he has quality on the ball in early games too
Looks like Travis instead of Meffert then. Good age with lots of championship experience and captain of Blackburn. Will have to adapt to Walters system though. Puerta looks like another exciting one, but could go either way. Signed by Alonso and a year training under him, so you'd think he has something
We hear this a lot, about how good Seri is on the ball, but it would help to be clearer about what that means. If you want a player who will help you retain possession, and move the ball efficiently from side to side, then he's probably the best in the squad. But if you look more closely at what Seri does with the ball, that's when it's more questionable (at least for me). I looked at Key Passes (passes leading directly to an attempt on goal) per 90 stats for last season. Seri was ranked 177 in the Championship. Just looking at City players who played at least the equivalent of 10 matches (i.e. more than 900 mins) then he was behind (in order) Twine, Carvalho, Philogene, Traore, Tufan and Morton. Seri was equal 7th, with Ryan Giles. Of course Seri was playing deeper which has some effect, but even so I would have expected better stats than that.
The squad is taking shape and looking more stable than what we ended last season with. That said we need at least 2 proven strikers in my view, if we can't put the ball in the onion bag then 3 points will go missing more times than we achieve them.
