Chalobah, Chilwell, Disasi, Gallagher and Sterling would all start for us. Then there's players like Madueke, Mudryk, Adarabioyo and Badiashile who didn't get on the pitch for them and would be first teamers for us. There's no logical reason why we should be finishing above Chelsea this season or even close to them, the only advantage we have is a settled team/squad and a manager who knows the players. I'm obviously biased but do have to question the mentality of Adarabioyo signing for Chelsea over us when he would clearly have been playing week in, week out for us in a settled side. I suspect the money was the same so the advantage of staying in London and playing for Chelsea must have been the deciding factor. Honestly think it'll prove to be a mistake though.
He's not even in the top 10 of "players Chelsea have let go in the last decade that they should have kept". Possibly not even the top 20.
Seeing the comments about Sterling, just makes me think Chelsea have had a team attitude problem for a while, so many wannabe's that are more interested in their own image than they are in doing the best for their club. It's like having a whole team (with the exception of Cole Palmer) of Ronaldo type ego's. Sadly I do put Sterling also in that frame, I've noticed since his departure from City he can seem a very selfish player, when it's easier to play someone else in, he try's to go for glory himself and often fails. I said last season Ponch needs to jump on it, but he's gone and can the new manager handle it, maybe by taking out an experienced player it is a message to the younger players, you are ALL replaceable.
Sterling and Lukaku are also good enough to make that squad in my opinion. For as much as he's been a target of banter on Not606 over the years, Lukaku's a decent striker and better than any other you currently have. I'd take Sterling in the squad over that Chernobyl Traore all day long too.
Reading that I'm thinking love island, I don't know why, never watched it, but I'm sensing it fits with some of these over glorified ****ers. Other than that, I like Chelsea.
Cucurella had an excellent Euros - but also had fabulous players all around him ... Savinho did a complete Master Chef on him yesterday ... served up 4 or 5 different ways on toast ... The Chelsea defence is quite fledgling - 2 very good young players in the centre (if Fofana gets back to how good he was before his injuries) but Citeh showed how to exploit the wide positions and that won't have gone unnoticed...
Yeah I've seen those stories, Conte was ranting to the press the other day before the season started at how he's (already) not happy with how things are panning out. Napoli then ended up losing 3-0 last night, I'm sure the potential loss of Osimhen will futher brighten up his day.
I have a little soft spot for Spurs, just don't tell Spurs fans that ffs. But either way a win is good for me, whether it be Leicester or Spurs, just don't play out a draw, that would be boring bantz wise.
think you overrate our players. Sterling over Barnes/Almiron/Gordon. Probably. What has Mudryk ever done apart from cost a lot of money? Rock it up for half a season in the ukranian league. No chance Madueke is a player i like a lot but he's in the midfield 3 Disasi, Badiashile, Chalabah all have looked good and bad (obviously we love chalobah being our youth players) but you could throw them into a hat with Burns, Botman and Schah and anyone of them would be as strong as each other. Chilwell was great when he first came but he's just injured all the time. Not sure how he is now Gallagher is great in a certain system, he's a proper grafter and plays his heart out (like henderson). Your midfield 3 is pretty strong not sure he's an out and out starter. We only signed adarabioyo cause he was free. He wasn't even starting every match for fulham was he (i know he got loaned out last year).
Lukaku's scoring stats against the top teams in the Prem and also at International level are abysmal ... personally I'd persevere with yesterday's front 2, ... they'll get goals with the right team set up behind them ... biggest problem they had yesterday was a lack of creativity...
Yeah, sterling makes the squad, maybe in first 11. He's not a 100% guaranteed starter. Palmer, is a deffo then on the other wing you have Neto, Madueke, Nkunku, Mudryk (not sure i should point him in there), chukwuemeka all vying for a chance (unless you shove palmer in the middle) Lukaku is decent when he can be arsed but he can't so no point keeping him around to eat burgers
I hope they preserverw with all of racist Enzo/Caicedo/Lavia. They need to create a dozen chances for Jackson to finish one off and those ****s look lost once they’re past the halfway line.
That still doesn't take away the fact he's more or less averaged a goal every other game at club level though, which all in all is a very impressive feat. Even if that does perhaps include hattricks against midtable/ relegation candidates and barely any against "big six" etc.
Yeah. Mad career really. He’s also 31 and doesn’t exactly scream fitness enthusiast so you could see him declining quickly in a year or so.
Not sure we're capable of getting a draw at this point ... and that's not me being over pessimistic... Cooper don't seem to know what his best line-up is ... For me - I'd be picking the 3 Danes at the back - they had a pretty good Euros defensively and the communication should be bang on ... Faes also had a good Euros ... but I fear he'll stick with the defensive set-up that has lost the last 3 in pre-season, with the last a 3-0 thumping... Just hoping he proves me wrong - if we can solidify the base we do have some good, tricky, young players going forward ... but only one, fully fit, but inexperienced specialist striking option ...
As long as they are happy with 7th at best then? - coz to finish higher they are going to have to beat the teams above - there's a good reason for loaning him out ... a good statistical one ...
