I was impressed by the way your team put themselves about. We've been accused of using the "dark arts" in the past couple of years - often by teams who do plenty of it themselves - and your boys were playing like an established Premier League team. If Diaz had been as accomplished at hitting the net as he was at hitting the floor you'd have won today quite easily I think.

There'll be a lot of comments of how Southampton will "learn" from this as if it's some secret that if you don't score then you can't win but actually thought naivety was the main thing you didn't have today. Just wasn't your day but to perform like that away from home against a top ten side is a good start.

In playing staff they're miles off... Southampton were by far the better side even vs 11 Today.... there's some players in th3 Newcastle side wouldn't get near any of the big 6 11.

Will be interesting to see if Villa can kick on this season. They've got CL football to juggle along with improved expectations in the PL.

Their main rivals for top 4 are Chelsea, who can't be as **** again this year surely ? Same for Man Utd. Spurs I suppose, although they are cursed with Spursy DNA. Toon are nowhere near a top 4 spot currently.

Diaz instigated it and then went down very easily but most of our fans seem ok with the red. What schar did was bad enough that it can be a red, doesn't stop our fans trying to make a villain of Diaz but I think some of that was to try and distract from how badly we were playing.

 

And of course he did.

 

Still think West Ham will have a good season, once they get it together...
