I don't blame you re. Norway; it's a stunning country and the people are really friendly but - everything is expensive, we went on motorbikes and found a coffee stop for a cuppa, sarnie and a bag of crisps etc was 25 euros, minimum - enjoyed the trip, wouldn't do it again.
It was good 20 years ago so I guess it will be even better now. 50 years of occupation museum, a car/transport museum, a park about 1 hour out of town with a bob sleigh run you could go down, and some decent restaurants were the highlights back then. I have heard of tourists getting robbed on the streets in recent years, but I don't think it's any worse than anywhere else. As always keep your wits about you.
Cornwall, Monday. 2 large cod 1 haddock 2 large portions chips 2 small mushy peas £54. Take away. They’ve had football from the working man now they’re after our grub.
This has made me more angry than it should have! I love a chippy tea, and I know the price of fish has gone up but that takes the pi55. And it won’t be as good as Hull. Ba****ds.
Who's that twat who supposed to be a Chef, only cooks seafood? He charges £36 for fish and chips takeaway at his gaff on the South Coast. Greedy ****.
As obscene as the price is, it really makes me question the sanity of people prepared to pay it- but if there are enough suckers out there, why not?
Rick Stein in Padstow. Was there couple of years ago, I planned to get fish and chips from him but the queue was just too long! It wasn't £36 at that time, more like £24. I just wanted to try it once to see if it was any better than anywhere else. Still don't know!
I was at a motorbike rally a couple of weeks ago, a field in the middle of nowhere Stuarts of Driffield mobile chippy fish and chips for £9.00 OK the portion could have been bigger but considering the location I thought it was a fair price.
Yea, that's the greedy ****er Chazz. I'll be honest, i've never tried his cooking, maybe because of the prices. Greedy ****er.
The price I saw was on a video on youtube where they was trying value for money fish and chips and his were £36 and not worth it apparently.
Fish and chips can never be worth more than twice what it costs in a 'normal' chip shop. Go to Harrods fish bar, you won't get change out of £50.
I was in Whiby earlier in the year. A queue was forming, waiting for a fish and chip "restaurant" to open. I checked out the menu price list posted outside, and walked off muttering "chumps".
I used to have that attitude and always got takeaway fish & chips in Whitby and ate outdoors with the seagulls, we were there on Tuesday, loads of Boro shirts about, anyway decided to finally try the Magpie Cafe as there was no queue, first time we've done it, table upstairs with great views of the harbour, regular Haddock & chips only 16.95, same as we pay in decent pubs now, and it was top notch and we'll be doing it again next time, who's the chump?
Never been to Magpie but my favourite in Whitby is Trenchers. Royal Fisheries used to be decent as well but not been there for a while.
