Not only are we now 8pts clear of 3rd but now they have two extra games to fit in over the next few months, surely this can only work in our favour? Every little helps
Yep, was more than happy to see them progress last night. Likewise, I wouldn't mind Birmingham going as far as possible in the Europa League. On the other hand, I want us knocked straight out of the FA Cup come R3.
Well they have done well to reach that stage, although I am certain we could comfortably dispatch Blackburn as well. If we had beaten Crystal Palace we would be playing at Old Trafford tonight, great but yesterdays result was much more important. Ipswich reached the last 4 last season and beat Arsenal in the first leg, but they still only finish 13th in the Championship, so you won't find me getting too upset at not being involved.
The FA Cup isnt as bad as the Carling Cup or Europa League as long as you avoid replays and extra time!
It's hardly hindered them so far. They're gaining confidence with every win and they're keeping plenty of clean sheets at home.
Their semi-final 2nd leg will be on either Tuesday 24th Jan or Wednesday 25th Jan. The following Tuesday, the 31st, they come to St Marys. (The weekend in between is currently free for both of us, but that is to allow possible FA Cup 4th round games to take place)
2 games in the Carling cup maybe 3, plus they will more than likely progress in the FA cup it can only be good news for us.
Whilst looking at their fixtures, I notice that their next three home games are against Birmingham, Boro and Reading. Tough run - and even if they come through it, then at least they'll have taken points off of the chasing pack.
Didn't someone say it's all about winning silverware, but getting the priorities right..? At present, Saints just have to be single minded about promotion, without totally burning their bridges elsewhere, in my opinion. Nigel is certainly welcome to that decision, rather than me. Cardiff have done well. I hope they stay distracted.
This is exactly the reason i didn't want to go on a cup run and like someone said above i wouldn't be too saddened to get knocked out of the fa cup early doors.
Meh. It also gives them a hell of a lot of confidence. They will think they can beat anyone and be fearless against anyone. So I don't actually think it's a good thing for us they are playing extra games at the stage of the competition they are at
