That can only be a good thing - for the time being at least..... Woe betide Erol though if results aren't good fairly quickly. Now he's been backed pretty heavily he has to deliver improvements on last year for sure.
It would be interesting to see how this year's wage bill compares to the last. I can't imagine Chambers, El Ghazi and Willock being cheap. As youngsters go, I expect Robertson will be well up the pay structure as well. Our own youngsters coming through will help though. Get Romeo and Rinomhota off the wage bill and it will help. They won't need replacing. Wintle expected to leave as well, with Robertson filling that vacancy. A bit more work to do, but should be achievable.
Good points Remote. However there seems little interest so far in Rino, Romeo and Wintle. I thought they would be attractive proposition to Div. 1 sides especially as we would want little or no money for them. I wonder if they are sitting tight to maintain their wages which be lower down the leagues. More contract cancellations and pay offs maybe? Are any of them out of contract anyway so they could just walk away?
Is that it for signings? There’s talk of a central defender in case McGuinness leaves. There appears to be squad cover for Collins. Surely another striker is needed given Etete is out for a while, and City can’t rely on young Ashford and the untested Kanga as it stands.
He was talking 2 or 3 before Robertson signed. I think Robinson will lead the line for at least the first few games. Kanga might start against the gas on Wednesday. To be fair, with the signings that have been made, anything else would be a bonus, though a winger from Leicester has been mentioned a few times. Just need to move a couple on now.
If all are fit then there are a lot of midfielders across the pitch for Bulut to choose from: Ralls, Siopis, Turnbull, Robertson, Colwill, Willock, Ramsey, O’Dowda, King and of course not forgetting Rinomohta. Frequency of games, different opposition, injuries and suspension will of course be a major factor in Bulut’s selections but that group seems to be a step up from last seasons group.
They're just discussing her on the Olympics programme. Apparently she is injury prone as well. Fingers crossed for her. Interestingly, while he plays for RoI, she competes for England / GB.
Watched the TKD last night. Like a football terrace battle of the 70's without weapons. Wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of those. Male or female.
McIlroy has always played for Ireland through all levels from Juniors up and has decided to stick with Ireland which he's entitled to.
He will stand out like a spare piece at a wedding. Especially if he makes any cock ups. Not a bright thing to do.
