He'd been out of work for a while and the longer that went on the harder to get a top job. He came to us with a reputation to rebuild, and if he was given guarantees, they appear to have been far from cast-iron.
I really want NJ to do well. He appears a good guy with principles and sincerity. Sometimes nice guys values get exploited. We either perform a miracle or sink into the abyss of nothingness. For some reason I am expecting a miracle …
The thing is the “ hard to shift “ are known to the other teams so the only option is they need to step down a league, along with wage expectations going down as well - then they may attract more interest ?
Scott Fraser being the obvious example. £6,000 a week in wages probably gets them 3-4 players, not one crap one.
I have seen Dillon Phillips get a mention tonight from a fan who is respectable. He is half way through a two year deal at Rotherham - his parents are big Charlton fans who used to follow him H&A. He’s still a good age for a keeper (29) and was one of our best keepers in recent years.
I might not be the big name signing you were waiting for but I do have a pair of gloves. Hope all is well with all of you that I’ve crossed paths with previously and hello to all others. Here’s to a good season COYA!
Not even a vague rumour about a new signing before the season kicks off. As things stand, I’d give our summer transfer window 5.5 /10. It’s an upgrade on what Southall & Nimer delivered, on a par with a Tommy Two Sh1ts one, and not as good as Roland’s promotion season under Bowyer. SE7’s SMT have bigged it up but not gone through with it. It’s still not too late. Nathan Jones must have been having a laugh when he publicly thanked the investors after the Docherty signing - sweet FA in the 4 weeks since then . (You can count the Jamaican kid, even the club have admitted he’s a punt).
No SPL club will pay him anything like £6,000 a week, which is somehow what he is “earning” with us. We will end up loaning him but having to pick up 75% of his wages.
